First and foremost, enjoy yourselves, have fun, and play with good sportsmanship.

The league will be split into FOUR POOLS for International play.  We will play TWO matches per week in Season III, a home and home for each match up.  You will have one week after the current week's schedule is posted to complete your matches.  There will be contact threads for scheduling times and dates for matches.  If a match is not completed for the current week and a reason why has not been sent via pm to myself or posted in the contact threads, then that match will be forfeited by the team that failed to make an effort to complete it.

Match Type: Unranked
Length of Halves: Six minutes
All League Matches are ladder matches.  Please report losses to the ladder in a timely fashion.
Scoring: Three points for a win, one for a tie, none for a loss

Should a match be tied after regulation then the match will be scored a draw, and both teams will receive a point.

Disconnections

If a match is disconnected then the following will apply:

In the first half - restart the match.
In the second half - play one half and include the score at the time of the disconnect.

We're all grown, so I don't expect this to be a problem.  Use common sense and come to an agreement.

At the end of the season, the top two teams from each pool will advance to the final tournament.  The final tournament will be a home and home for each match up and aggregate score will decide who advances.  If the aggregate is tied after regulation of the second match, then extra time and penalty kicks will decide the winner.

Slide Tackling

I understand it's a part of the game, and when used correctly is a great defensive tool.  However, excessive slide tackling is not and shouldn't be part of this league.

Slide tackling after loss of possession (out of frustration) is unacceptable.  Slide tackling a striker on a breakaway to prevent a goal, in my opinion, can be a smart play.  It may cost the defensive player a yellow or red card, but does prevent the other team from scoring.  That's a case of risk-reward.

Please adjust your play accordingly.

Good luck, and enjoy.

There will only be one rule change.  We will no longer play through extra time during the regular season.  If a match is tied after regulation it will be scored a draw.

We will be splitting up into two divisions for Season II based on the draft order.  There will be two divisions (Pool A & Pool B) with seven teams each.  You will play each team in your respective pool twice, and each team in the other pool once, for a total of 19 matches.

I haven't decided yet how I'm going to work the schedule.  I'd like to keep the season trimmed to 10 weeks plus playoffs, so I may be scheduling three matches at times during the same week; two matches versus a divisional opponent and one versus an opponent in the opposite division.

OK, buza had an idea.  What if we played four games per week, home and away matches with two different opponents?  Is that too much for everyone to handle?  That would total 26 matches played by season's end, and would amount to about an eight week season plus playoffs.

Thoughts?  Can everyone handle four games a week?  Of course that's only against two opponents, but I don't want to overload anyone who thinks they can't do it.  I want everyone to be able to complete all their matches without forfeits this season.

I think that is a reasonable amount of games per week.

I thought it worked well the week we did 2 opponents 2 games each last season total is like half hour each time you face an opponent. So Giz, it works out to an aprox. 1 hour a week total for the league

In season one we had two matches per week against two different opponents.  The only difference with this season would be you'd play each opponent twice instead of just once each.  I don't see each matchup taking more than 30 minutes to complete two matches.  It should work out fine.  We'll be able to get 26 matches in in about 2 months.  We can do it.

I'm working the details out for the schedule right now and should have it posted tonight.  Changes above are in bold red.  As you can see, the final tournament will be tweaked a bit.  Other than that, the only rule change is no extra time during the regular season.

There have been some concerns brought to my attention regarding slide tackling.

I never addressed this point in the rules because I thought, as grown men, we could police ourselves and use common sense.  Those of us who use these tactics know who we are.  Please adjust your play accordingly.

I'd hate to have to track yellow and red cards and penalize players for this, but if we need to then we need to.

The best way to register on the FIFA ladder is with your gamertag.  I don't believe you need a confirmation email.  I don't see you registered on the FIFA 08 360 ladder right now.
