Were up to the final two rounds!

Tdawg vs. SW @ Oceana Long 18

Rdawg vs. Winner @ Random Long 18 (both matches if applicable)

If Winner is victorious against Rdawg in match 1, a second match must be played.  The winner of that match is the champion.  If Rdawg wins match 1, Rdawg is the champion!

GL GENTS!

Football got both of us sidetracked to mention until now, but TD and I got our match in earlier today.

We both went with the Anya Infinity/Infinity combo for the Oceania matchup.

We we're even after 3 @ -3 apiece with a nice eagle on DAWG's part on #2.  Then came the short, drivable par 4 #4.  There's the iron fixture in the way, and DAWG hit it and ricocheted to a spot in the rough while I landed on the green.  DAWG had a nerve-wracking shot over water with a 52-95% lie... clipped a tree but stayed dry just off the green.  Needless to say, he made a miraculous par save considering how the hole went for him.  I sank my eagle putt and after that hole and also after 6 I held a 1 shot lead -6 to -5.

The last 3 holes saw DAWG play solid with 3 birdies.  I, however, went par, par, par.  The 9th hole.. a par 5. I inexplicably blew my 2nd shot over the green (tough to be over the green in 2 on a 600+ yd hole).  The foliage got me on my 3rd and I found myself down by 2 going to the back 9.  DAWG led the action -8 to my -6.

I think possibly the St. Louis Rams saved me at this point.    DAWG was, to say the least, excited that the Rams were putting it to the Cowboys.  I put things together on the back 9, while DAWG was just a hair off and just missed several birdie chances along the way.

In the end the tally was:

DAWG  : Anya/Adv/-13
SwAero: Anya/Adv/-15

gg sir, always a pleasure to compete against you, and it was here as well.   Congrats on your Rams today.

Great game Dubs, you really took control on the back by just out-playing me.  Congrats on the win, and good luck in the finals.

If that doesn't work we can play the weekend.

Thanx momo for running the league too.

A big thanks for running this MO!   I've come to enjoy this game quite a bit.

I have 2 questions for our Finals (both are only an issue if rd and I need a 2nd match between us in the Finals):

-We don't have to play our matches consecutively, do we (if need be, of course)?  I mean, for scheduling's sake we can leave a block of time open for just one round and if it happens that a 2nd is needed, we can play it at another point in time, yes?

-The matches are going to be played by using the Random course selector within the game...  if it happens that we have a 2nd match, should we allow a 2nd match on the same course as the first Finals match? For example, if in match 1 it randomly selects us for Silver Peaks, then on our 2nd match it gives us Silver Peaks again.. should we play it, or should we go back and try to get any course other than Silver Peaks?

1) I would very much prefer that you played them back-to-back; but if you cannot, well, then that's ok.

2) You'll have to accept what the game gives you even if its the same course; sorry.

Congratulations to you, both. I agree with SW as I have enjoyed this game more than I first thought I would. BCUS says it best (even if he says it after 4am)......never give away this game. Good luck, gentlemen.

Me and SW had a sick game.  The 1st game ended up being oceania long tee which I hate.

SW jumped out quick to a 3 stroke lead while I decided to use my gas can rather than my putter.  Then I caught on fire and stormed back with a 2 stroke lead to take the game over.  Then the very next hole SW stiffs it within 5ft from the cup from the rough to make it 1 stroke game.  It was close the whole way until SW got screwed on a putt on hole 17.  The downhill putt carried all the way to the rough which ended up giving him a bogey for the hole.  It was a close game the whole way and you were a great competitor.  Great game SW.

rdawg and I sent this League to a fine send-off just now.

I was to set the first match and rd would set the 2nd match if it was needed.

The Random course gave us Oceania, so we were off!

rd had a few tough breaks/bad bounces early on, but shot well enough to stay in it. pars on #3 and #4, birdies the rest of the front 9.

I came out blazing,  3 eagles on the front. We both laid it to the center of the green on the short drivable par 4 as the pin was protected and it was a gamble to go at it.  We both had about 40 foot hook putts for eagle and somehow I made mine.

I give this guy all the credit in the world, being down -9 to -6 after 8 holes he kept at it and birdied the par 3 9th while I blasted outta the bunker and saved par.   It was -9 to -7 at the turn in my favor.

Then it was his turn to get hot.  rd went -7 over the next 6 with a nice eagle on #11 despite the hole tucked behind an overhanging tree. I got the par fever and just went -3 over the same 6 holes.  rd held a -14 to -12 lead going to #16.

Needing to get back in it I had to be 100% aggressive at this point while hoping for help. It paid off on #16 with a bird and a rd par.  -14 to -13 rd led by one to #17.

This is a short par 4, I laid it way out to the right on a flat spot in the fairway but still 140ish to the pin, rd took the riskier  route and it paid off with only 90+ yds left.  I inexplicably short hit my ball and left 20+ feet left and with the hole at the top of a steep drop off.  rd hit in in close.  I needed a birdie and had to go at the hole no matter what.  I missed high side and rolled all the way down the hill into the fringe, missed the chip back up and got a bogey.  rd made his bird and held a 3 shot advantage to #18.

Both of us in the fairway it was now over.  We both ended with birds on #18 and once again rd's very good, very consistent play propelled him to the League Championship!!!

Legend for the scoring:  E=eagle B=birdie P=par b=bogey

Oceania (Long) 18

BBP BPP BbB  (- 4)

Total         -13
