Good luck to all finalists.  Play all matches in their entirety, including the penalty kick shootout.  The higher seed in each matchup is the home team.  Post results in this thread and don't forget to report losses to the ladder.

Here's a link to the player bracket: TGV Tournament

Chelsea traveled to Real Madrid for the first match of the Final, and it would be one for the ages.

The underdog Chelsea would not be intimidated by the home squad, especially after a 1-1 draw during the regular season.  The Blues would establish their position from the get go, and Sean Wright Phillips would blast one past the keeper in the 7th minute.  It did not look good for Real Madrid early on.

Real Madrid was under pressure.  And it didn't take long for them to get back into the match.  After some great dribbling by Raul near the endline, he would find Sneijder from five meters out and the ball just snuck inside the near post to equalize, 1-1, in the 14th minute.

The remainder of the first half would see both squads with decent chances, but nothing to show for them.  The half would end at 1-1.

The second half was more nail-biting, exciting action that would see chances on both sides, a total of 12 shots for Chelsea with seven on goal, and nine for Real Madrid with nine on goal.  Both goal scorers would eventually be subbed out, with Sneijder going out in the 90th and Wright-Phillips exiting in the 105th.

Regulation and extra time would end with the score 1-1.  The penalty kick shootout would ensue.

The shootout was as intense as the match itself, and Casillas held strong for Real Madrid, stopping the third shot from Chelsea.  Guti, Raul, Van Nistelrooy, Robben, and Robinho would net for Real Madrid, while Anelka, Cole, and Lampard did the work for Chelsea.  The home squad would escape with a win in the Final Tournament, 5-3 in the shootout.

Great game house.  It was as intense and exciting a match as I've played in a while.

Bayern hosted Newcastle Utd. today in the first round of the TGVPL Tourney.  The German side would come out strong with instant pressure on the Magpies defense.  The first would come quickly in the 13th minute from Ze Roberto.  The second was right behind with Klose netting in the 15th minute and Bayern was up 2-0.  Newcastle's defense would then tighten up with both teams having limited chances and the first half would end 2-0.

The second half would begin as the first ended with both teams defenses being air tight.  The game looked all but over but the referee forgot what he did with his whistle and Martins would net a 96th minute goal to make the score 2-1.  That is how the game would end and Bayern would win 2-1.

Bayern move on to the semi's where they await the winner of Villa and Barcelona.

GG Hop

Bayern
Ze Roberto - 1
Klose - 1

Newcastle Utd.
Martins - 1

Milan visited Inter this evening in the battle of the Italian powerhouses.  Inter was still angry from their season loss to Milan and was looking for revenge.  The game was back and forth early on, with Giraldinho netting a goal for Milan halfway through the first.  Inter, trying to avoid the upset tied it in the 45 minute off Ibrahimovic's boot.  He looked to be offsides, but further review showed a Milan defender twiddling his thumbs near the out of bounds line for no reason.  The second half was a change of pace when the teams stepped up their defenses and minimized shots.  Inter took the lead on Ibrahimovic's second goal of the evening in the 83 minute.  After a few chances both ways negated by outstanding defense...the score ended Inter 2 - 1 Milan.

Great Game as always Az...do me a favor and dont sign up for the next league huh?

Inter
Ibrahimovic 2

Milan
Giraldinho 1

AV met up with Barcelona last night

Barcelona got a goal in the 49 minute taking a 1-0 lead into halftime.  AV quickly answered in the 59 minute.  The game turned into a basic defensive battle and ended in regulation at 1-1.  The first half of ET was uneventful and quick.  Half way through the 2nd ET AV picks up an errant pass by Barcelona and puts it in the back on the net.  They go on to hold the lead and win 2-1.

Great game Rez

Sorry I couldn't write down goal scorers and report but my son was having big issues that needed to be addressed

Semis:

Bayern vs Aston Villa

In their first matchup this season mistakes on both sides led to a 2-2 draw at Aston Villa's home pitch.  Bayern will look to tighten up their game, and Aston Villa will look for the upset in this semifinal match.  It should be a good one.

Real Madrid vs Inter

The 3-2 loss that the Spaniard team endured during the regular season was a tough one.  After two mistakes by the Real Madrid defense, one being a goal kick that was passed straight to Adriano, they would be beaten on their home pitch.  The Spanish defense will look to tighten up and help get after Inter early and often.  Inter will look to keep their strong play going in hopes of a Final appearance.

Both matches should be great battles, and will more than likely take place tonight.

In it's first match of the night Bayern would host Villa for a chance to go to the ship.  Villa and Bayern managers had been exchanging blows back and forth the media and it was time to walk the walk.

Bayern would come out like a team possessed.  Toni would net a 3rd minute goal on a pass from Klose, 1-0.  In the 10th minute Toni would get his own rebound and with the keeper on his back he would net his 2nd of the game and it was 2-0.  The third goal would come just 4 minutes later in the 14th minute when Von Bommel would take a through ball from just outside the box and one time it into the left corner, 3-0 Bayern.  The first half would end that way and Villa were stunned.  The second half would see both teams have good chances but no finishing and it became a possesion game.  With no goals in the 2nd half the game would end 3-0 and Bayern were on their way to the ship.

GG Jay

Bayern
Toni - 2
Van Bommel - 1

Real Madrid vs Inter was everything it was hyped up to be....until we had connection issues.  After playing the entire match scoreless, in the 105th minute of extra time we get disco'd.  Talk about sucking the air right out of a great match.

So Richie and I decide to play extra time by playing two minute halves in a regular match.  The first restart Richie comes out and drives right down and scores about midway through.....then we disco again.  We try it again, with the score at 1-0 Inter.  This time, I manage to put a quick goal in to even it at 1-1, then another in the second half to win 2-1.

Needless to say, the issues took all the excitement right out of the match.

Then I managed to go on and get stomped by Bayern 3-0 in the final, with pretty much two own goals in the process.  The first hit the crossbar and deflected off my goalie's back as he's laying on the ground.  The second came when a defender tried to clear the ball and managed to pound it right into the net.  By the time the third goal came around it was too late.  Season over for Real Madrid.  Runner up is only the first loser.

Toni - 1
Klose - 1

Congrats T.  That damn German team was just too big to overcome.
