They did say that we will be able to play against players in Europe, after the game is released there.

He said "the lag issue will be our first priority for the '07 edition" or something along those lines

Seeing how its a game based 100% on swing timing... yeah, I sure HOPE they make it a priority

How can EA just be figuring this out now? Unbelievable!

Yea the second question I asked was about online play, then I asked again that is when EAP asked the question in the forum.

I did notice that my question that "if it had been beta tested wouldny we have known about the lag problem early enough to fix it" Didnt get thru, must have had some lag on that server to( I am sure had they seen it they would have posted it )

Yeah, I was happy they brought up my beta test question ...

Then the host answered "it can't be done because we have special equipment, blah blah".

So I fired a follow up "Can you elaborate on that, because many of us participate in betas for other games through Sony's GAP".

Never got through

This is indeed horrible news! They knew this when they shipped this product out the door for goodness sake! That is tantamount to fraud, IMO! I just read this message on IGN's Tiger Woods board, it goes into a little more detail about the chat and the developer's comments. Plus it's from a Tigerwoodsonline.com member, Hop706:

The Tiger Woods EA development team hosted an open chat for UK users at about 2pm EST to answer questions about TW06. I belong to a strong community of TW players and a few of them were in the chat room to get some answers. They got a few questions in and the THE MOST disturbing answer spoke volumes about how shoddy EA is and how much they care about you spending 50 bucks on their product.

THE ONLINE LAG WILL CONTINUE until the release of 07. They are aware of the awful lag during online play and there's nothing they can do about....or so they say. Just as my friends have stated before they will do nothing as long as they sell their games, it is all about the mighty dollar. I implore you to let everyone (and EA) know how much this game stinks online, how bad EA stinks overall and how little they care about their customer base.

THEY WILL CONTINUE TO TURN A DEAF EAR until they are hit in the pocket. I have been playing this title for years and have made many very good friends online doing so at tigerwoodsonline.com but for them to admit they knew of this issue and to simply state that they can't fix it is insanely unacceptable. I apologize to those of you that play this game for it's offline enjoyment only but it is advertised as having online capability and to me that's just irresponsible and maddening. SPREAD THE WORD!

The only thing holding TW 2006 together for me is the online daylies. I pretty much restrict my play to Tour mode, so that limits my online participation to days when we'll have tour mode events. This situation is simply UNFREAKIN BELIEVABLE!? I simply don't know what to say at this point :!: :

While I would be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed with the responses I heard today, I would like to thank EAUK_Protagonist for sharing this whole thing with us. It was nice of you to take time out to let us know that this was even taking place and I for one, appreciate that greatly. I would also like to thank you for getting some of the tough questions out there to be answered by EA. I'd rather be told straight up and honest then misled the whole year.

Thanks again man, if there's anything you or any of your UK friends need from our site, don't hesitate to ask.

Bottom line, I'm a TW junky and regardless of how crappy the play is I'm sure I'll endure the pain.

Well, looks like Tiger 06 will be another cup holder for me then. So....If EA can bother to fix the connectability problem with NASCAR 06, I'll be all over that game again this year.

I also want to thank you for sharing this opportunity.......funny that EA doesnt try and do these on their own boards or try to hook up with a site like ours.....maybe we could have helped them make a better game.
I also know that I will probrably suffer through the coming year....make the best of it and hope that next year's game will be the the one that play's as advertised.

isn't it kinda funny how much better the EA/UK message board is than the US board? and the fact that the moderators actually communicate with the users? if that doesn't say a lot about what's going on, I don't know what does....

If anyone does buy this game, make sure you get it used. No reason to further reward EA for their faulty products. I see that Ebay is already full of used copies and I am sure Gamestop and Blockbuster will be well stocked also.

So basically;

Dear EA customers, we here at EA would like to thank you for your continued support, your $$ for the past two versions even though the online aspect has been awful, and we would like to thank you in advance for your $500 that we are going to azz rape you for when the PS3 is released. OH.....and by the way, we "promise" that all the server issues will be fixed for the next version. (snicker)

In the meantime continue to enjoy the 06 version and work lots of overtime so upon the arrival of 07 we may once again bend you over a barrell. (bring your own lube)

peace out
Electronic Arts

And thats just it, will they make a PS2 version of this game if the PS3 is released before TW next year.. And if so, what will be the quality of online play for the PS2 version..?

Honestly guys....I think we should petition hard for EA to put servers back up, or keep them up for TW05.....

After hearing todays discussion, that's probably our best bet....

Is this for real? There is no way to fix this lag issue........I have not played online yet because I have been on the raod fo work for the last 2 weeks but my CAG is finally maxed and I am ready....but if the online thing is terrible I don't know that I will play it much............So is it true that there is nothing EA can do to make this right or is it that they just wont make it right?

Both; Executive Producer Steve Arnold (numero uno for TW series) said the lag will continue until the '07 edition. They cant do nothing as it is a result of a client end dilema (I'm assuming this means that the PS2 hardware flat out cant keep up with what they tried to program into the game).
