TGV Daily  Scores for Pinehurst No.2  for 5/27/07 w/ 30 minutes left - Championship Sunday (Medium Pins)

1. Broncstad - 46 (Expert)
2. Irish - 48 (Journeyman)
T3. Sabbs - 49 (Journeyman)
T6. Buzzn - 50 (Apprentice)
T12. Musikamole - 52 (Novice)

Well...Pinehurst has two moderate/difficult driveables, compared to St. Andrews. Hole one can be reached with wind, but the putt is too long to make all the time. A 50 is a very good score. Most players will need some luck to break 50, as evident in the leaderboard today. The 611 yard par 5 10th is the most difficult hole, with the pin tucked close to the front bunker. A fully lofted 3-5 iron will get close with the right yardage. The other way to play this hole is to aim right of the pin and spin hard left. I only eagled this hole once today on my first attempt.

Shot a 52 on my first attempt early in the morning (made par on an easy par 5  ) and spent too many attempts to shoot what I thought would be an easy 49-50 today.  Kinda grumpy right now...sorry.

Irish - You started late and made one attempt, I think. Awesome shooting! My guess is that you made both driveables, or eagled hole one and one of the driveables?

Bronc - The pitch-ins today are no gimmies with the goofy turtleback greens. The only one I made was on hole one after memorizing the chipping grid position for the pitch. Seriously. I know this does sound off the wall, but do you keep a notebook or something for pitch shots? You make so many of them everyday.  No matter what...again...VVN 46!

Draw/Fade shot with irons and wedges for full power and consistent yardage.

Bronc - I've seen posts about your preference for draw/fade shots for full power and consistent yardage on approaches. How far do you aim left/right of the pin? I'd like to know if I am putting too much draw or fade on the ball. It seems like one full circle away is about right for a 9 iron, but sometimes the ball hooks too much. Tricky stuff.

The reason I bring this up is because I missed a par 5 green yesterday because I over cooked a wedge shot. The variance can be as much as 7 yards...depending on the amount of pause.

I dont keep any notebook. Last year my friend wrote down all the distances for the clubs and told me what they were. however, they were not very accurate, but it was a good thing for me to go by and make the right adjustment to. Then the guy that taught me to play the game laughed when told him of the list of clubs. The list is long gone and all in my head.

TGV Daily Preliminary Scores for TPC at Sawgrass  for 5/28/07 - Monday Madness (Easy Pins)

1. Musikamole - 47 (Expert)   Career low at Sawgrass
T5. FM - 52 (Novice)

Well...I'm leading the daily by two strokes on my first attempt.  I think playing in the early morning after rested and a cup of coffee really helps. Summer vacation for teachers starts in one week...I could be pretty hard to beat for some.    I know the score won't hold...but it's cool to see it at the top for now.

A big thanks to Pingbubby!

I had his silly RFOM film score song going through my head..."Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head". I always liked hearing that song when it was a hit on the radio...oops...I'm not over the hill yet ,  and it relaxed me.

13 clubs x 8 levels of boost = 104 different yardages
13 lofted clubs x 8 levels of boost = 104 different yardages
13 punch clubs x 8 levels of boost = 104 different yardages
13 lofted punch clubs x 8 levels of boost = 104 different yardages
5 pitch clubs x 8 levels of boost = 40 different yardages
5 lofted pitch clubs x 8 levels of boost = 40 different yardages
5 flop clubs x 8 levels of boost = 40 different yardages

536 yardages to remember...and that does not exhaust the possible shots in this game...just the basics.  I have some yardages memorized, but it's less than 100.

I'll work on drawing my iron and wedge shots, and let you know what I have figured out regarding aim. Some of the pause shots at Sawgrass today were a bit loose...leaving me with 10-12 foot putts. That is what the pause shot will do with just a little loss in concentration.

Ok mole here goes. I think this will help tremendously. I dont know if I can explain this well. I have been telling lobby players this and it has been spread around and people are notably getting better.
Use your hands to aim. Change camera view to the middle view. Aim over(right hander/draw shot) to the right without zooming in, and line your hands up where you want the ball to go,. ie middle of fairway, the pin, cart path(tough shots) wherever. Then draw the ball. You will rarely hit a bad shot doing this. The fade is a little more tricky. Aim the head of your club where you want the ball to go, look where your hands are, and then move left and put the head of the club where your hand were and fade. Couple of things to note: remember to compinsate for wind and the lie, The 5I doesn't seem to draw/fade nearly as much, there are a few hole that seem to draw/fade a little more/less than others, and finally you may draw/fade a little more/less than me, so make the adjustments as you learn this new technique. Good Luck.

I used to indulge in funny cigs when I was younger so I couldn't even come close to memorizing all that, just the basics. I have no clue on loft and deloft and I wish a could remember my punch shot distances. where I notice that most people use kill shots I will punch. BTW nice 47, if that wins I will be leaving that alone today.

Thx E$

Bronc - The aiming system for draw/fade shots works like a dream. I never had to look at my notes for where to place the aiming circle.  It fits my draw/fade style perfectly. The iron/wedge shots are very cool. Always the same distance, so I can focus on spinning to the hole.  Yes. The 5 iron requires less left/right...but not a big deal.

The funny part...I spent 15 minutes moving "my hands" around the screen like you would with a sixaxis. . I was thinking that this is one very strange aiming system. Then I remember what someone taught me in 05...then went oh!...the golfers hands.

I played Firestone and never looked at my notes for tee shots.  Another very cool thing is if you have a 103 yard shot...you don't need a boost chart. It's all very intuitive. With the pause shot, I had two different swing tempos...with this elaborate system for taps and loft. It was crazy to keep it all working. It takes tons of focus. One mental lapse and you come up 5 yards short or long..and end up making par.

THANKS !!!

THX TDAWG. Again, I have Pingbubby to thank for getting me out of my funk yesterday with his RFOM youtube show this morning. Rain Drops Keep...  .

Bronc - Your career low at Sawgrass is a 43.  Today it's easy pins. A very kind gesture to sit out on this daily. I know Irish can shoot lower than a 47, so I would be more excited to see both you and Irish shooting a 43 or lower today for the "Superhuman" status. I look forward to refining your tips on aiming and finally having distance control, like in TW05. Again, thanks!

Break 48 - Expert (Oblivion)
Break 46 - Master (Oblivion)
Break 44 - Superhuman (RFOM) A TDAWG contribution.
Break 42.........?????????
Break 40...

I'm glad that is working for you. Reading your post put huge smile on my face. I'm always glad to help and I hate it when people are greedy with knowledge and don't try to help people excel.
Easy pins are always the toughest for me, so I don't know if I can go low. But if you insist, I'll try when I get off work.....JK. I think that soon you will be giving everyone a run for their money.

TGV Daily Final Scores for TPC at Sawgrass  for 5/28/07 - Monday Madness (Easy Pins)

1. Musikamole - 47
T2. Buzzn - 48
T2. Irish - 48
T6. Dendo - 51
T6. Drgnfyr - 51
T13. FM - 52
T13. Carramrod - 52

I'm shocked! Mole wins the daily?   Two awesome TGV players did not post today (Bronc and Sabbs) ...must of had hot dates.

O.K. My prepared speech.  Seriously. I first want to thank E$ for answering all of my newbie questions on IGN back in TW05...and advertising this site. I still have your tips on my computer.  Second, I'd like to thank my playing partner Criv for his encouragement back in 05...and who said that the best players on the planet are here at TGV.  Finally, to everyone here who has the wonderful attitude that no matter what...let's keep it fun.
