Ah Shucks! You guys are too cool.   Thx for all the congrats. It means a lot.

Bronc - Big Bear! You were in spitting distance from my home!  We should have a beer sometime.   I did a gig there once. That mountain really shook my home when the earthquake hit some years ago. I was in the shower. Scared the poo out of me.    Actually, the  big hill was the problem.

Well...I can laugh about it now...but it really did scare the "poo" out of me and scared my wife and kids half to death. I really thought it was the big one, and I have been through several earthquakes. The only thing that worked was the radio in my car, so I listened to see if L.A. got moved to the ocean. Actually, when I was playing Tigger late about a week ago, I felt a little bump on my bottom. Turns out...it was a tiny 3.0 earthquake.

I miss the twisters in Texas during my college days. Being from California, I was the only one stupid enough to stand outside to watch the one that took dead aim at our college. That was the last time I went outside to watch.

TGV Daily Final Scores for Carnoustie  for 5/29/07  - Tournament Tuesday (Hard Pins)

1. Broncstad - 45 (Master)
2. Irish - 46 (Expert)
3. Sabbs - 48 (Journeyman)
T4. Buzzn - 49 (Journeyman)
T4. Musikamole - 49 (Journeyman)
T9. Dendo - 51 (Apprentice)
T16. FM - 53 (Novice) <-----A player I have never beat head to head...and I am sure it is still the case.

Update - O.K. you two (Bronc and Irish)...what meds are you guys on.   With three likely driveables...it takes two hole-outs for a 46, and three for a 45.

Carnoustie: A par 70 course. A clean round nets a 51, do to only three par 3's. The driveables are 3, 4, and 11. With a healthy headwind, 4 and 11 are out of reach, so shooting a 48 requires some luck.

Driveable update: Hole 5 is driveable. With no wind you are left with a 78 foot putt that requires a 120 foot putter and one foot of shape forward.   The putt breaks two cups right to left. A very hard hole to eagle.     Hey! Just your humble Daily Reporter.

Second Driveable update:  Hole one can be reached with wind. The 30 foot putt sucks. Breaks real hard left to right at the end. I just missed it by a foot.

A possible strategy would be to go for eagle on one, do to the iffy driveables. With todays pin placement, you may need to aim  3/4 to a full chipping grid to the left for longer pitches, do to the slope of the green by the pin. For a close pitch with a hook lie...21 yards...move the arrow left so the wide edge touches the pin...a 5 tap LBW starts out right and curves left into the hole.

I had great wind on all three driveables...making three eagles, hit a PW short on hole 13...resulting in par. Tried to get back to 48...going hard for one hole-out...lipped out on the approach on 18 from 144 yards. It was soooo close. A very fun round of golf after a long day at work.

Good Luck Sabbs. VVN 48!   <------Leader for most of the day. I was rooting for ya!

----> My daughter's graduation from high school is tomorrow. I'll post the final scores, but doubt I'll get a round in. Good Luck All!

Ya mole I'm gonna try to make it to BIG BEAR more often. I got a ton of $ in my early bronco and never use it. As far as barley pop goes, I haven't consumed in ten years. I'm allergic to alcohol. Seems that everytime I drink I break out in a bad case of felonys. I can do other beverage tho.

The tourny today: I eagled holes 1(3rd try nasty putt) 3,4,5,10,11. Hole 10 I punched it in. I been working on punch shout from 88-110y. Hole five I drove the green, but I always pitch on that green. If I'm playing someone I usually spin to the left so the fringe is in my way so I dont hear any cryin about it. However, this time I had 6 tailwind and decided to putt it and got lucky and drained it.

Bronc - Pepsi works for me.  It would be cool to see off-road GT4 stuff guys do for reals at Big Bear. Thx.  I'll practice hole 10 some more...and work on the punch shot. I'm getting closer on hole-outs, with more 6"-10" tap-ins and lip-outs. Just need them to go in the hole.

TGV Daily Final Scores for Turnberry  for 5/30/07  - Wealthy Wednesday (Medium Pins)

1. Broncstad - 44 (Master) One stroke away from "Superhuman"
2. Buzzn - 46 (Expert) VVN shooting
3. Irish - 47 (Expert)
T4. Musikamole - 48 (Journeyman) Got a second attempt in after graduation.
T7. Carramrod - 49 (Journeyman)
T7. Sabbs - 49 (Journeyman)
T15. Dendo - 51 (Apprentice)

Since my daughter's graduation is today...this may be my one and only attempt today. Started at 6 a.m.   All n' all, it was a good round. F23, B26 = 49. Eagled No.1, Aced the 226 yard par 3 w/ a FB 6 iron...touch of back spin.  Went off the wrong pin settings for driveable hole no. 13 ...went with 7 instead of 8 taps. Almost pitched in. Made par on the 195 yard par 3 15th. Too much 8 iron. On a positive note, I had more tap-ins than when I played last time. The pitch is a very good shot to improve on, at the least to save on mental fatigue from making benders.

Irish - Do you remember what five holes you made to shoot a 46 at Carnoustie. Awesome shooting.

Only two driveables, so Buzzn is definitely on fire today by posting a 47, then a 46. VVN 46. Good Luck!

----------Final Thoughts--------

First - It was a true joy to see my daughter graduate from high school. A proud father.

Second - After looking at the VVN 44 by Bronc today, I got to thinking. 1. Two holes are driveable...a 48. Four hole-outs out of 16 remaining holes for a 44. That means a 25 percent hole-out rate. Outstanding!

So, the question...how do I shoot a 44? Answer...know the pins.  Example 1: I know that on hole 2 with medium pins the ball will break from right to left. When I shot the 48 I pitched in on hole 2 because of that knowledge. I made one par...missing a 47. Example 2: I don't know the pin on hole 18. I had 65 yards to that pin. It looked perfectly straight to the cup...both lie and green...but...I figured it just can't be that straight, so I moved the chipping arrow exactly one cup right. Well...I missed the hole by exactly one cup to the right. Now I know if it looks straight on 18...aim straight!

I've decided to play Turnberry w/ medium pins once every day as a warm-up until I shoot a 44 with no mulligans.   At least I'll know one set of pins for one course. The one course wonder.

Since we have a new member, I propose a 2nd season of Moles Tour Mode Thursday. Do I hear a 2nd? Thx Irish.  BTW Irish, that makes you the winner of the first season.

8. Sabbs - 8 points

A bogey on the road hole kept me from a 46, i wanted to jump out of a window when i saw the ball roll across the road through the gallery. Oh well, i will try a few more times. Shot 49 with my new player, Holey2, birdied 15 and had a two putt par on 16 and a two putt birdie on 18.

I have hit restart too many times because of the road hole.   For some unexplained reason, the ball will jump off the fairway sometimes and bounce off the green. Now I play it safe with a kill shot or today...from 117 yards a slow tempo FB LW with loft 1/2 forward and then spinning it to an elevated pin placement. I wish that hole two, not hole 17.

A brave soul can play a lofted FB draw shot and fly the houses on the right. You can then have a FB pitch to the green, or an easy kill shot. Too scary for me on the second to last hole.

TGV Daily Final Scores for St. Andrews  for 6/01/07  - Fat Friday (Hard Pins)

1. Broncstad - 43 (Superhuman)
2. Irish - 45 (Master)
3. Buzzn - 46 (Expert)
4. Musikamole - 47 (Expert)
T5. Holenneck - 48 (Journeyman)
T5. Sabbs - 48 (Journeyman)
T10. Dendo - 49 (Journeyman)

St. Andrews is a stock 52 course. With seven driveables (1,3,7,9,10,12,18), "super-stock"   is 45.  Hole three is not always driveable because of the wind, so hitting restart is sometimes necessary to have a good chance at a 45. On hole 18, the pin is back left, so a strong headwind may end a chance at a 45.   Bronc's 43 today is quite remarkable, considering most of the holes today were on slopes, making hole-outs very difficult. Outstanding!

--------------
My nine week vacation starts tomorrow.  Teachers need this sort of break every year because kids can drive one completely nuts from prolonged exposure.

I will not play the daily 16 hours a day to beat everyone but Irish and Bronc.  I stopped early tonight because I am itching to finish a really good book, and I have plans to spend time composing music and playing real golf.
