TGV Final Daily Scores for Riviera C.C. for 6/07/07 - Tour Mode Thursday (Expert Pins)

1. Cornhillz (Non-TGV) - 51...Yeh Right.
2. Irish - 57........................................Daily Tour Mode Winner Again!
3. Buzzn - 59
T9. Holey - 62
T19. Moley - 64  ..................a friend called when I was on the 17th...missed a two footer for a 63 on the 18th while talking on the phone. It was long distance.

Reporting from Riviera in Southern California.

Irish and Buzzn crushed the competition with two sub-60 scores.  Dendo withdrew do to a sprained thumb.

For the most part, Riviera is a medium length course, compared to Firestone. One could break 60 using what I call the "short bag"... 8 degree, 5-9 irons, every wedge. 1. You have easy wedge approaches on the par 5's, setting up for short birdie putts. 2. You've got a very nice consecutive loft from 5I all the way down to HLW. 3. I made eagle on the short par 4 10th using the HLW pitch . 4. The very long par 3 on the front side is a very iffy birdie hole in Tour Mode...par is easy to make by aiming right of the green in the fairway ( 5I, Pitch, Putt). So...if breaking 60 in Tour Mode is difficult on short to medium length courses, maybe try the short bag.

What stopped a 59 for me today after one attempt was bad timing on the pause swing. I should have hit a few range balls first to dial in distances.

TGV Preliminary Daily Scores for Pinehust No.2 for 6/08/07 w/90 minutes left - Fat Friday (Hard Pins)

T1. Buzzn - 47 (Expert)
T1. Irish - 47 (Expert)
4. Carramrod - 48 (Journeyman)
T5. Andy - 49 (Journeyman)
T5. Holey - 49 (Journeyman)
T5. Moley   - 49 (Journeyman)
T10. FM - 51 (Apprentice)

Please post any last minute scores, and I will update this post. Thanks and very good scores tonight!
Reporting live from Pinehurst in muggy and humid North Carolina.

Pinehurst No.2 is a par 71 that stretches 7,305 yards. Get out the big sticks and enjoy watching golf balls roll off the greens.  If you absolutely must shoot a 47 today, or lose a $100.00 bet , this is what to do: 1. Hit restart until you pitch-in on the first hole. 2. Drive no. 3 with a full loft 6-7 tap 8 degree fade for eagle. 3. Drive no. 7 with a full loft 6 tap 8 degree draw...yes...over the trees for eagle. The pin is too far back today to play a fade. Shoot a clean round through no. 18. It's really that simple.

Actually...holes 3 and 7 are extremely difficult to eagle...much more so than holes at St. Andrews. That's why there are very few sub-50 rounds today. The extremely long 611 yard par 5 10th does not help one bit in shooting a clean round. It takes a FB 5I draw somtimes to hit the green. Most players will loft a 3 iron..and hope it does not roll off the back of the green.

----

I made a huge mistake in drinking a Starbuck drink just before bed last night...so posted a 55-57 in hopes it would put me to sleep.  No dice. My real first and only attempt tonight...drum roll ...broke 50! I didn't make eagle on hole one, but pitched in on the driveable hole 3 for eagle and on the driveable par 4 7th I flew the trees with a draw and made a Hole-In-One!!!

Well...it was game on for a possible 47.  Anyway...I missed two easy bender putts on the front from inside ten feet  , and shot stock on the back...F24, B25= 49. Ya know, I'd rather have seen that hole-in-one than a 47 on my card today.

i couldnt go completely clean on the back to save my life. whether is was the long par 5 10th, or the first par 3 on the back, i just couldnt close the deal. I did eagle the 1st hole, the 3rd, and the 4th, but couldnt get the 7th. I shot 23 several times yesterday only to blow it on 10. I should have used my other name, holenneck, that character doesnt hit the ball quite as far and doesnt spin the ball quite as much, so hitting the green on # 7 would have been a little easier and the reduced spin would keep me from making mistakes on some of the par 3's. nothing like hitting a good shot and then spinning it too much right off the green!

oh well, the tour event at sawgrass is super easy today, shot 57 first attempt and left a couple out there. i wonder if the 56 that was leading at the time is a valid score or a leftover from pinehurst.

I never saw the screen name OUSOONER and a 56 is a newbie score at Pinehurst. My best guess is that you are leading the daily. VVN 57. I hope Irish posts today. He has a very good chance to win this tour mode event.

My swing was off on the front, but then I found my tempo and made 8 out of 9 birdies on the back for a 59.  I even played some draw iron shots for distance control. Thanks Bronc.

--------------------------------
The dynamic duo ...Holey and Moley are leading the TGV daily as of 5:37 P.S.T.

----------------
Update....with 90 minutes left on the clock, Irish leads the Tour Mode daily with a 55!  To more fully appreciate this outstanding effort, 72 - 18 = 54...or 18 birdies. Irish either made 17 birdies or something else.   VVVN 55.

TGV  Daily Scores for TPC at Sawgrass for 6/09/07 w/ 90 minutes left - Saturday Surprise (Tour Mode)

1. Irish - 55
2. Non-TGV OUSOONER - 56 (Very Doubtful)
3. Holey - 57
T5. Moley - 59 (Um...this is getting to be a bad habit for me...following you.  )
T9. Drgnfyr - 61

TGV Preliminary Daily Scores for Carnoustie for 6/10/07  - Championship Sunday (Medium Pins)

1. Holey - 47 (Expert)
T2. Andy - 48 (Journeyman)
T2. Buzzn - 48 (Journeyman)
T6. Carramrod - 49 (Journeyman)
T6. Musikamole - 49 (Journeyman)

VVN 47 Holey.   I would have tied you today with a lock on a 47 after 16 holes on my only attempt today... (F24, B23)... but shanked on #17 for bogey. The last two holes are extremely easy...the hard work is done...that is why I use the term "lock".

Notable holes: 1. Pitch-in for eagle. 3. Eagle Putt. 11. Eagle Putt. 12. Hole-out from 132 yards for eagle. The shank really stings right now, and has ruined too many good scores, so I need to cool down and walk away from this game for a while.

Feel free to post any late night scores and I will add them to this post. Thanks.

Hey, did I win the daily outright? I guess I need to thank Bronc and Irish for not being able to play yesterday. Never thought I would win a Daily. I will put an * by this, it isnt a real win until you beat the best guys.

Since you thanked everyone after your win for the help they have given you over the past few months, i will take this opportunity to do the same.

First, i would like to thank Sabbs. I have played a lot of games with him, most of which i have lost, but after he took the time to show me a few things I instantly became a much better player. He has to be one of the most consistent players in the game, and wanting to beat him has made me better.

Second, Carramrod. If it wasnt for his constant support and positive reinforment (this is not to be taken too seriously), i wouldnt be where i am today. In 4ball, he always hits his shot a little inside of mine so that i can practice my putting, thanks bro.

And finally, all the guys that play the daily. When i was struggling to make the top 25, i never thought i would break 50. Now breaking 50 is an average day. I went from keeping score relative to how many under par I was to now keeping score by how many under birdie i am. I love the competetion and you guys are very very good.

Thanks for your time.

I'm back! Sleep does wonders for a grumpy mood.

Hey Holey...it's Moley.

Did you get a 1 in the stat box for daily first place finishes? If so, then congrats on your first daily win!  And always remember, even though Irish and Bronc were unavailable to post, you beat top players that shot great scores that day. No * required.   Also, the shank I had on 17 that denied me a T1 does not sting anymore after your very positive post. Thanks! I'm happy for you.

Yes. Sabbs and also SW are two extremely steady players. They could prolly shoot the same score while heavily medicated.

"Now breaking 50 is an average day".  Man...that is some serious improvement. I'll take a 49 any day...especially at Firestone.

----

Which brings me to my next topic after hearing of Holey's huge progress in one season.

1. When did folks here start playing Tiger Woods?

2. On a historical note, what year was TW first released, and on what system?

I'll start: TW05 on PS2 mid-season. Got beat 99% of the time.

i bought the very first TW game when it was released on the PS2. Not sure which year that was, but i was pretty good at it, my best score was at Scottsdale, shot a 47.

owned the newer games a few more times, but didnt play them much cause i didnt like playing alone.

After purchasing the PS3, i owned this version of the game for a month before i finally discovered the online lobby. I was scared to play because i thought there would be a hidden charge. once i found out it was free, i have been addicted ever since.

It may have been TW04. After I bought TW05, I purchased TW04 because of the positive comments about The Predator Course. Scottsdale is on the same disc. To shoot a 47 on TW04 without being able to use forward stance/lofting the ball...pretty darn good.

TGV Final Daily Scores for Turnberry for 6/11/07  - Monday Madness

Well...you all get spared my commentary for today.  I was having too much fun driving a tank in Resistance:FOM that I lost track of time and nearly missed the daily scores.  These are the scores exactly one minute before the clock ran out.   Would of liked to play Turnberry once...oh well.

1. Broncstad - 45 (Master) I trust you had a good vacation with the Bronc and all?
T3. Buzzn - 47 (Expert)
T3. Irish - 47 (Expert)
5. Holey - 48 (Journeyman)
T6. Sabbs - 49 (Jouneyman)

--------------------------------

I'm thinking of having a daily tournament that runs the entire last week before the release of TW08.

I've seen a post on TGV that TW08 will be released this August.   Anyway, I'd post a ranking for the last week. Each finish would be worth a certain number of points, i.e. 1st = 15 points, 15th place = 1 point. The person with the most points for that week wins, then second place, third place, etc. It may get daily peeps pumped for the TW08 daily, and add to the excitement of TW08 in general. Can you imagine 15 or more TGV'ers flooding the top fifteen money slots for the week before TW08? A Grand Finale.

TGV Preliminary Daily Scores for Bandon Dunes for 6/12/07  - Tuesday Tournament (Hard Pins)

Musikamole - 53

Bandon Dunes has five driveables counting hole number one. I drove that green with 3-6 mph headwind, but missed the putt. I made eagle on two driveables, but made too many pars for a good score today. It was a rushed round...I need to pick up my daughter who is flying in from Maui after being gone for nine days. A very generous high school graduation gift from her best friend's dad.   I've never been to Maui... .

Anyway, if enthusiastic Holey  or someone else could post the scores for tonight, that would be real cool.  I won't be home in time. Thanks.

I noticed that Holey and Buzzn went sub-50. VVN shooting!

Thx mole, I had a fabulous time in the beautiful mountains of san bernadino national forest. Its hard to believe that I have a place that gorgous just 2 hours from the armpit of socal(LA). This is coming from a guy that grew up 10 min. away from pebble beach.

Now, your idea of the 1 week daily is brilliant. Hell, I might even gear up for tour mode day. I think that it will be a huge motivational boost for us. Well, i will enjoy it thats for sure.

sorry moley, didnt read this until the following morning. unfortunately, i am on the east coast, so i would have had to stay up until 3 am to see the results.

however, having said all that, i believe i won again. although several players did shoot a number lower than mine, since i do not have the exact scores, i will declare myself the winner.

i believe the order would look something like this

Bronc and Irish 46 (3 hours left)
Buzzn  47
Holey  49
Moley  53

if i left any scores out, i apologize

Thanks Holey! For the East Cost, that's good work. Congrats on the declared victory.   I lived in PA from birth through 9th grade. Miss those fire flies (glow in the dark bugs). I don't miss the humidity though.

Bronc - I lived in San Jose after PA. I too saw Pebble Beach up close. A beautiful part of the world. I'll keep up with the release of TW08 so I can run a last week TW07 daily tourney, Tour Mode Thursday included.

TGV Final Daily Scores for St. Andrews for 6/13/07 - Wealthy Wednesday (Medium Pins)

1. Broncstad - 42 (Superhuman)
2. Irish - 44 (Master)
T5. Buzzn - 47 (Expert)
T5. Holey - 47 (Expert)
T5. Moley -47 (Expert)

------------------------------------

Reporting from windy St. Andrews... with strong winds reaching 6 mph.   St. Andrews has 7 driveables. If you shoot a clean round and make all seven, then your score will be a 45. Two TGV players did better than that today, making hole-outs and driveables. No one -both TGV and non-TGV players shot a 45 today. Bronc and Irish - outstanding play!

----------------------------------------------------------

Holey-Moley...what a daily today.   Um...Holey...why do you insist on having your name always above mine on the leaderboard?     I missed a 10 foot putt on 18 for eagle by an inch and a 46.  I'm sure every daily player left a stroke or two out thurr. This game can mess with your head.

---------------------------------------------------

O.K. Time to play a game. Top This  -  The most screwed up round of golf you ever had. Ya know...the kind where you were robbed of a good score. I'll start. I was on the 18th with a 46-47 locked on my first attempt at St. Andrews. So what do I say to myself?  Don't... screw...up... the... tee... shot...on...the...last...hole...over...and...over...again! Well...I hit the ball solid off the tee, but got the aim mixed up in my head. To compensate for the 6 mph crosswind, I moved the circle the absolute opposite way. The ball went bye bye over the houses...O.B. I was only going to make one attempt each day...but...I couldn't live with a score of 51 at St. Andrews, so the 47 was on my second attempt.
