These are THE final standings  for week #1 total stroke.

Let the loss reporting commence!!!

(report loss/losses to the person/persons that finished one spot above you)

Just for the record.........Is it 2 persons above you or 1   (including ties)

Ok, after some thought, I think it might be better to just report a loss to just the player/s directly above you in standings, with all the tie score possibilitys.

So if next score lower than yours has two or more tied, you report to all with that score, if only one player, you only report to 1 player

...not sure if I am understanding the logic of the "report losses" format here.  I get the second lowest score for the week (61) but I have to report 3 losses  (???)

...whereas someone who has a score towards the bottom of the list only reports 1 loss.

(just back from NH, so maybe I missed something here )

It's just the way it works out.
You report a loss to the player/s with the score directly lower than yours.Their just happened to be 3 tied above you this week.I don't know of any fair way to choose which tied player you should report to, so we go with all that are tied.
I'm sure everyones got open ears to any ideas though.
Of course we did have a open discussions thread for quite  a few weeks before we even started.

You just want to make sure your score is unique so that only one person ever has to report to you. The more people tied above you the more losses you get to report.  Get it ?  It's a game inside of a game inside of a game really.

Alternative suggestion:  Reporting losses to all those who had lower scores than your own would at least reward you for having a good score. (similar to the 'ol days of TAG-TEAM loss reporting)

As it is currently set up---receiving wins and losses are totally arbitrary (even more so than the dreaded aiming circle ).

...again this is all luck of the draw--since you don't know what others are scoring until they post and and since you don't know until everyone has posted their score as to what a "unique" score will be---it again is impossible for you the individual to have any impact on what losses or wins you will receive (unless of course you have the LOWEST score for the week).

p.s. I know this is somewhat of a new format--not trying to be difficult here--just trying to make the loss reporting  fair and somewhat performance-based.

What ever happened to just playing someone for a ladder match?  I understand you guys are trying to create ladder activity, but IMO this system is very flawed.  If you want ladder activity, why not just play ladder matches.

I agree with Dendo that you should have to report a loss to everyone who beat you that week. The only thing is that it might discourage the people if they have to report  7 or 8 losses Tough call

Welcome back Dendo, but hurry up and report your 3 losses

Talk about being discouraged from playing...what would discourage me would finishing with the 2nd lowest score and having to report more losses then the player who finished 5 or 10 strokes back.  It seems almost gimmicky (I so know that's not a word) to try and create something that's not really happening.

Dendo.....I was 100 percent kidding about the "Game inside of a Game inside of a Game post " I was being totally sarcastic - should have used a smiley....

I don't care about posting losses at all.  I care about the League at this point.  I've posted my losses...so everyone should this week and if things are different next week....so be it.

Posting losses to everyone above you is silly imo.  These are not ladder matches, this is Season play.   If we grow this and the person has to post 20 losses every week for a single round of golf that is silly.....it would take 1/2 hour just to post the losses.

My vote if we must post losses on the ladder:
  • Post a loss to a single person positioned above you.
  • Ties : For ease of administration and to carry on the spirit of 07 online play sorth ties alphabetically.  (My new name is aaaHoowaa)

I don't think there's any question that we all care about the league succeeding,  to me a flawed format like this could put a negative spin on a great idea.

My point exactly.....If you want more ladder matches and a more active ladder, get online and play em or set up tourneys to give players a platform to play ladder matches....playing 2 games a week and turning it into 5 or 10 goes against the integrity of the ladder.
