Why dont you just report to the winner of the matches you play .... Example: Dendo and Irish play the front 9 Dendo wins ... Irish reports loss to Dendo .... Then let the season standings be the reward for good play .... isnt it afterall the purpose of a Season

Basically, I view this season as similar to the weekly NASC, and each weekly winner could be credited with a tourney win, and therefore qualify for a TOC once there is enough interest.

And I would be willing to bet that Karl would make up a medal for the season ending champion if someone were to ask.

The thinking behind the extra losses is exactly the same as it was when we did it with the Tag team ladder. Nobody complained then.

Either way is fine with me...leave it as is and report to the person directly above you or only report to the people you play.

I totally agree that the premise of this and the tag teams are the same...the only way that would be fair would be to report losses to everybody above you.  However the tag team events dwindled and are now non-existent.  I think this would discourage some of the lower echelon players from playing.

I agree and don't want to discourage anyone from playing and having fun. No one wants to sit around and report losses for 30 minutes every week.

Maybe down the road when we get more people and things sort themselves out into to divisions we could have all the advanced people report losses to advanced players and the same for a intermediate division. Just a thought.

....ok, how does this sound?

After each week...each player looks at the 3 players above him (/her) and below him in the overall standings, which are updated each week.  Those six players (or less if you are toward the top or bottom of the standings) will be your potential "loss report group" for that next week.

If anyone of those 6 players posts a LOWER score than your own for THAT week---then you report a loss to each of those lower scoring players from that group of 6 (or less).

For example:  After week 1 >>>  Irish, Brody, SW, Jump, Ping, and Musik would be my "loss report group" for WEEK 2.

So if in WEEK 2,  Brody, Ping and Musik post a LOWER score than my score, I report losses to them (as well as whomever I may have lost to playing my matches or we could exclude an additional loss report if this person  is already in your group so you don't have to report double losses to the same person in the same week)

If I am Irish---then my "loss report group" after week 1 will be Brody, SW, Dendo   (since there is noone above him in the standings----also count those players who may be tied with your own score)

So as a reward for being high in the standings--in this case you may have a smaller potential group to report losses for in that next week.

note: I guess if there are many ties in your potential "loss report group" then the number of persons MAY exceed 6.

Likewise, if you are toward the bottom of the standings, where there may be less than 3 palyers below you in the standings---then you will also BENEFIT from having a smaller pool to potentially have to report losses to in the next week.

How does this sound (hopefully not too complicated.

Finally, some input

I'll play it anyway you guys want.

But being total stroke I dont think theirs anything gimmicky or ladder intergrityless() About reporting to anyone, (no matter if it's 1 or 100.) that had a lower score than your own, cause in fact you are playing everyone every week.
Everyone plays the  same 18 holes.under the same conditions, so whether it's everyone above you or just the next score above you it's still kosher to me.

All, one, or none, it doesnt really matter to me.

*edit* or 6

As I said before, IMO the only fair way to do it is to report to everybody that finishes above you, but that would discourage lower echelon players.

As far as ladder integrity, there would be records on the ladder that potentially could be broken because of a format like this....Bogus

Greg, I totally agree that in a strokeplay event you are competing against the entire field, but reporting that many losses could be an event killer.

What's wrong with the way NASC is run?  We play and report only to the players we lose to.

Dendo....in theory, it looks like you're on the right track to having a workable system, but it seems like an awful lot for the majority of players to keep track of.

Is there something wrong with the system we have used for every other version?  You play against someone, if you lose you report the match.

Report to the person you played only.  Just my opinion.

...I was just trying to offer an alternative that was similar to what was currently in place, but had a little more fairness for everyone built-in.

Reporting losses to only those we lose to playing out each weekly match is fine by me as well.

OK glad we got that cleared up..................

Gonna go report a loss to Dendo..........If anything changes and I need to report to  SW BRODY & IRISH   someone let me know.

Report to the people you play........The point system and placement  is the reward for winning your matches as you go........Not a ladder record.

I say just report your ladder matches as you play them which is standard operating procedure here anyways.

The only other option that would keep it fair is to have to report to all lower scores for that week.  But like TD stated, I agree that it can DIScourage people from playing.

The standings for the week and for the season are a seperate thing, which has its own strategy. I didn't play Dendo nor did I beat him in a match, and I don't want a win from him unless I do.

Like Ping says, the weekly points system (and the cumulative season tally) put in place is its own reward and having to report on top seems like a double ding against someone.

Is this settled now?  We're only reporting losses to the people we play against, right?  Objections?

Regarding the integrity of the ladder, if person "A's" combined score beats person "B's" combined score (especially since this is a Grip/Tour combined score requiring two different sets of skills), then person "A" had a better performance that week, and is deserving of a ladder win. I do believe the current scoring method could create a very dynamic competitive environment. Grip and Tour are two different games, and to have both games working in one week to post a great score is very impressive, like the olympic decathlon. All around greatest athlete.

One last thing, in the event of a tie, perhaps a player could report only one loss in some alphabetical way. One week it could be A-Z, next week it could be Z-A.

You guys have been at this much longer than I have, so any scoring method is still cool with me.

I shot a 63 tied with Greg. Do I report a loss to greg or do I go to the shooters at 62?
3 are tied with 62. Who do I need to report my extra loss to?
You will need to report losses to Jumpputt, Pingbubby, and Musikamole.

Azirishfan and Hawk66xx will be reporting losses to you.

I have received a win from Azirishfan but I have still not received a win from Hawk66xx.
