You getting kicked from the party when we tried connecting to games most likely was on my end. I'm still using that POS Microsoft router so my gut instinct would be that my router couldn't handle more than 2 ppl in my party .
I got back on again later last night and started messing around with that spot I showed you guys on Ambush. I made it up on the highest wall of that building and was able to jump over the street to another where you could get to even higher ground with a tree covering you on one side. I'll have to vid it and share. Had a few people cursing my name for sniping from up there last night

I believe I learned about the place you are talking about on Ambush just last night. I think it is a great spot to really take a bunch of people out, especially now that the spot is still a relative secret. As long as you can survive grenade attacks and sneak into the spot without getting shot, it could really work out. I do not use a sniper rifle, I am too impatient to sit back snipe, I am more of a Rambo style player, but I usually have at least 10 more kills than deaths. I have improved my ratio from .70 to 1.34 over the last month. I have 27,000 kills now, so that may give you an idea of the kind of improvement i have made. My game name is Holey2, add me if you guys would like. It would be more fun to team up with a few guys and run the table on the field.

MOTD now reads that the servers will be down from 4AM to 6AM PST on Jan9th. It says they "will be down for maintenence and upgrades", hopefully that means patch

No patch just a server side fix.

Firstly, on behalf of Activision and DemonWare, I’d like to apologize for the difficulties you’ve experienced while playing the PlayStation 3 version of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare during the holiday season.

The fact is that we’ve experienced an unprecedented load on the DemonWare backend servers, which has steadily increased since late December beyond our expectations.  In spite of all of our planning and precautions, the extreme load revealed several issues.  These issues triggered unscheduled downtime this past month. As we encountered issues, we deployed additional hardware and/or optimized the server infrastructure to keep the service up and running.  However, while the servers were active for the vast majority of the time, many players experienced significant wait times repeatedly when joining games.

To overcome this issue, we’ve implemented a fix today, which should dramatically improve the time it takes to join an online game.  And, in order to make additional improvements we are briefly taking the servers offline tomorrow, Wednesday January 9th at 4:00 a.m. PST

As a rule, we try to avoid scheduled downtime whenever possible.  However, at this juncture we will need 1-2 hours to update a number of server infrastructure components.  We apologize for any short-term inconvenience this may cause, and appreciate your ongoing support and patience.

Our expectation is that the server load will continue to increase as system bottlenecks are removed.  So in the coming days, we will continue to monitor our system and make further optimizations and improvements as necessary.  We will be deploying additional hardware to improve our database throughput and load handling.  In addition to the added hardware, we are further optimizing components of the underlying server software to improve performance.  We hope to be able to hot deploy these updates while the system is live.  In the event that the system requires further scheduled downtime, we will post a message both here and in-game via the “Message of the Day” to keep everyone informed.

Rest assured that we are taking every possible action to insure that your Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare online PS3 experience is smooth and trouble free.  We apologize for the trouble this has caused and ask for your understanding and cooperation as we get things sorted over the coming days.

Thanks,

Steve Pearce
CTO, Activision

Thanks Steve,

Wish you guys would build and manage the next Tiger Woods game, they abandoned that game on the release date. Your dedication only proves to me that COD4 is the best online game available.

Playlist changes for the PS3 will be in effect as soon as they are uploaded by Demonware, They've been sent to them already and should be going into effect soon.

From what i have been reading and looking at on forrums,COD4 is acting crazy on the PS3 also.Is this true and is it anywhere near as bad as LIVE?If it is then theres no sence in me buying it for the PS3 too.Any info will be welcomed.

Smooth as Silk Homie, How sweet it is, I was getting the shakes

In all honesty it does a few seconds to find a match but after that all goes pretty good, a good back up for no live, I do prefer the Xbox Version tho

I,m to the point that I,m just tired of it.I have been thinking it was my new router but thats a joke because i can play every other game online that i have without a flaw.

I need to stay more in the loop. Just spent $140.00 on a new router AND a new modem because of COD4.

Two computer geeks at work convinced me to ditch the combo all-in-one router/modem from Netgear...telling me it was a lousy piece of crap. Oh well...the Linksys hardware does provide more tweaking options. Example: I can now bypass the router and hard wire the 360/PS3 to the modem when troubleshooting.

The only downside is the lack of in game communication and the party system with out knowing where you tgvers are at in terms of game status.... that is all... other than that if you are somewhat patient... you can play consistantly with no issues.

Looks like the waiting on players is fixed im joining games within seconds. The addition of wetworks and showdown to FFA is awesome if you like throwing grenades those are the maps for you.The only thing i dont like is the score limit change from 150 to 100 games are ending in less than 5 minutes. The next 8 hours are not going to go by fast enough.
