Multiplayer Perk #4 revealed: "Sleight of Hand"

This week's perk is pretty cut and dry. As you can see in the video, Sleight of Hand allows for faster reloads. This means you can put the enemies down, reload quicker, and get back into the fight faster. This perk is ideal for the heavy machine gunners, such as the M60 shown in the video or an M249 SAW gunner due to the normally long reload times of changing out ammo drums. Although when it comes to an intense fire fight, a faster reload time comes in handy with just about any weapon you use because every second counts.

If you're a member at charlieoscardelta.com you can watch the video at the link below.

Multiplayer Perk #5 revealed: "C4"

This week we're introducing a new type of perk. Previously showcased perks focused around Special Abilities such as Increased Bullet Penetration with Deep Impact, Increased Rate of Fire with Double Tap, or Increased Reload Times with Slight of Hand. There is another category of perks that focuses less on these Special Abilities and more on Special Weapons.

Special Weapons include things such as C4, RPGs, extra grenades, etc. The first Special Weapons perk we're going to showcase is C4. C4 doesn't need a ton of explanation - it's a perfect perk for objective game types such as Search and Destroy where you can set traps for your enemy, and for faster paced games like Free For All (Deathmatch) where you can lead your target towards you and blow them up with well placed C4.

To show off the perk in-game, we decided to load up a Free For All (Deathmatch) and Team Deathmatch game on the Playstation 3 and just blow the hell out of the level. Keep in mind, the actual perk only gives you 2 C4 per spawn, so you have to choose your usage of them wisely. C4 is great for setting traps, especially since vehicles are fully destructible in multiplayer. As you can see in the first part of the video, we planted some C4 on a car, lured the enemy up to it to take cover and sent them flying. The rest of the video is a montage of death showcasing the many ways to take out enemies using C4. We go from planting it on the run, to planning an attack, to catching our enemies off guard by throwing C4 over the wall in the direction they’re heading. Watch out for the little blooper reel at the end that I like to call, "When C4 Collides."

I found vids on YouTube of each perk for those who aren't members at the charlieoscarbravo site.   Quality suffers but you'll get the idea.

Multiplayer Perk #6: Dead Silence

With the Dead Silence perk, you'll make less noise when you move, which means you'll be able to easily sneak up on unsuspecting enemies for a swift knife melee. Dead Silence is great for stealthy style players who want to flank around or sneak in behind their enemies undetected. For the true, ghost player, Dead Silence combined with a customized weapon load out with a suppressor and UAV Jammer, allows for some serious stealth action. This perk is useful in just about every situation and game type, because getting the jump on the enemy always works out in your favor.

Call Of Duty 4 Runs At 60FPS On PS3
August 15 Vince Veneziani

Never mess with a game’s devteam. The dorks on the Call of Duty 4 message boards kept blabbing nonsensically about how the game would run at 30FPS with no anti-aliasing and would suck, etc. Now a developer is fighting back and says:
“Same level of AA between 360/PS3, both @ 60fps. Hate on the PS3 all you want guys, but we’ve done did it up right for the Sony lovers. Nothing has been 360 footage yet touted as PS3, you crack-heads! I’m not sure whats up with what you guys might have seen at E3, but we do have AA on the PS3.”
Pretty cool that a developer is sticking it to the annoying “fans” that belittle him about the frame-rate of his new game. Looks like the game will kick ass regardless of what system you play it on.

PS3 Call of Duty 4 Superior to Xbox 360 Version
by Victor Dangelo on 16/08/2007 Views: 651

It appears that even though the Xbox 360 got the better version of Madden NFL 2008, the PS3 may be getting the superior version of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.
Reports have come out stating that developers working on Call of Duty 4 are absolutely loving the PS3 hardware and what it is allowing them to do.
Sources state that the developers are having a lot more success and freedom on the PS3 thanks to the Blu-ray and added power under the hood compared to the Xbox 360. It seems that the power of the PS3 along with the hard drive in every console is allowing them to do a lot more with it visually.

Also after reviewing screenshots which were released by the developers it is becoming quite apparent that the PS3 version of Call of Duty 4 is going to be the premier version for you to play on if you want to experience the way Call of Duty 4 is meant to be played.
The Xbox 360 may have gotten the better
Madden NFL 2008, but it seems that the PS3 will be getting arguably the best first-person-shooter this year in a better visual state than the 360.

I'm kinda sold on COD4 because of the team player possibilities.

Of all the new games for both systems...my guess is that many TGVer's will be taking a very close look at COD4. With what I know of perks/other stuff from the videos...it looks like each person can customize their character to fit the role/job they want to play in the game. This sounds like the ultimate team player game.  I expect a large number of (TGV) clan members kicking-butt and keeping busy for a year or more playing COD4.  I guess I could be on two teams...since I have both systems...but if I had all the money in the world...I would get all of us onto one system for this game so we could have greater depth in the team.  Well...GT5 is extremely high on my list of must have games when it comes out in a year or two.   I should rent Forza sometime. I just heard it was a racing sim and not a little kid game.

In all fairness Chief, the developers have clarified that screenshot comparison floating around the internet was of two different builds with the PS3 one being farther along the line (thus looking better).

Earlier on today, screenshots from the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of Call of Duty 4 : Modern Warfare were pitted against each other. Infinity Ward has responded to the recent COD 4 PS3 and Xbox 360 Comparison. Continue to find out what they had to say.

Infinity Ward :
During development we frequently tweak the color balances in the levels to achieve the look and feel that we’re shooting for. What you’re seeing in these two videos are two completely different visual styles for the level that were tried. That’s why the older 360 shot has a distinct blueish tint, while the more recent PS3 shot shows the more appropriate middle eastern feeling lighting.

You can also some see differences in the geometry in the two shots. Broken walls, windows, etc… Every level goes through at least one “detail pass”. The designers will rough in geometry and do a certain level of detail, but it’s the environment artists that really make each level shine. The version of the level shown in the PS3 shot has been through one or two more detail passes than the one shown in the 360 shot. That said, all levels (single player and multi) use identical geometry and textures across all platforms. If nothing else, the shots show an interesting look at the evolution of a level.
Another quote made by a developer on on the official forums :
nah - take a good look at those 2 pics…that assets are completely different in the detail of the buildings in the background…we’ve said before the game is exactly the same on both machines…these are 2 different builds of the game.

I read about classes in MP, how does that work in COD4:MW?

In multiplayer there will be five default classes each with a set weapons load out and three default Perks per class. There will also be the option to Create-a-Class which you can unlock through ranking up that allows you to customize your primary weapon, secondary weapon, grenade type, up to three perks, and accessories for your primary and secondary weapons (i.e. scopes, sights, camo schemes).

What are Perks and how do they work?

Perks are a new addition to multiplayer in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, which act as special abilities to customize your character to your play style. These perks are broken up into three categories and are limited to only having three active at a time (one per category). There are a vast number of perks available, creating a unique MP experience every match with the large amount of difference combinations available.

A new perk will be revealed each week, check the top of this FAQ in the VIDEOS portion for links to videos showcasing perks as they become available.

What are the confirmed perks?

We will be confirming new ones every week, so far we have confirmed:

* Last Stand: Fall to the ground and pull out your pistol for one last chance to kill the enemy before dying.
* Stopping Power: Increased Bullet Damage.
* Juggernaut: Increased Health.
* Martydom: Drop a grenade when you die. (Anti-Tbag Technology)
* Endurance: Longer Sprint.
* Deep Impact: Increased Bullet Penetration.
* Double Tap: Increased Rate of Fire.

Will there be kill cam in Multiplayer?

Yes, Kill-cam will be in multiplayer just like Call of Duty 2.

Will there be drivable vehicles in multiplayer?
Nope. It is straight up Infantry combat with a little help from airstrikes and helicopter support earned through kill streaks.

Is Sprinting a new feature in COD4:MW?

Yes, we have introduced Sprinting to both Single and Multiplayer. This is great for getting to cover quickly while underfire.

In one of the videos I noticed someone stab someone, what was that?
Yep, that is our new and incredibly awesome (if I do say so myself) Knife Melee. When things get crazy and you're within hand to hand combat distance, break out a lethal knife stab / swipe / lunge to take down the enemy with your knife.

What is the match making like in Multiplayer?

We have introduced a Party System into Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. You'll now be able to party up with friends and move from lobby to lobby easily as well as join in progress. Once you are in a party, you can stay in the same lobby with your party after each match or jump to a new lobby and still keep your party in tact.

Is there Clan Support in Multiplayer?

Yes, in the sense that you can add in-game Clan tags to your username. You can add a Clan tag in game, and then party up with your Clan members to go from match to match as a team.

How many multiplayer gametypes are there, and are the same ones from Call of Duty 2 there?
We're not announcing all the gametypes just yet, but we have brought back all the gametypes from Call of Duty 2 as well as introduced several new ones. The currently confirmed gametypes include:

* Free-for-All (deathmatch)
* Team Deathmatch
* Capture the Flag
* Search and Destroy
* Headquarters
* Sabatoge
* Oldschool (no details available)
* Domination (no details available)

What is Hardcore mode?
We've introduced a new realism mode for the hardcore players, which you can play along with any of the gametypes. So you can play all the gametypes either standard or Hardcore Mode. When playing Hardcore mode there is no HUD, and weapons do more damage (realistic damage).

Will I be able to set up custom private matches?
Yes, you always have the option to start a Private Match and invite friends. In Private Match you can also fully customize the game rules and options which allow you to:

* Set Time / Score / Other Limits
* Set Map / Gametype
* Disable / Enable Health Re-gen
* Disable / Enable Sprinting
* Disable / Enable Perks
* Set to Headshots Only

Plus a load of other options. Essentially setting up the game any way you want to play it in Private Matches.

Will there be Ranking and how does it work?
Yes, there is a ranking system in multiplayer. As you play the game you gain XP = Experience Points, the more XP you gain the higher you will Rank up.

The Ranking loosely follows military Marine ranks although there are more ranks in the game than there are actual Marine ranks, so there will be multiple levels to each rank.

As you Rank up you will unlock more and more weapons and gear to customize your weapon load out. This includes completely new weapons, new sights, new scopes, new grips, new camo schemes, and more.

Can you throw grenades back in Multiplayer?
Yes, you can throw grenades back in Single and Multiplayer.

Can you cook grenades?
Yes, you can cook grenades in both single player and multiplayer.

Is there a party system?
Yes, there is a party system which allows you to party up with friends and move from lobby to lobby as a group.
