Had my best Free-For-All game last night.  I had the M16 with Claymores, Deep Impact and Stopping Power.  It was at the map i think called Crossfire??  Anyway, it's the one where you can go up to the second floor of what looks like a florist, so you can go back and forth between a few different windows and a patio/porch.

I started the game right in the corner near the steps and ran up and planted Claymores at the door from the patio and the top of the steps.  I killed three guys, got UAV, then got kills from both Claymores with 5 seconds of each other.  Gotta love that little "click" right before they explode.  Got an airstrike and right after I set it up, got killed.  The airstrike got me 4 kills, so I had UAV right away, got another kill with the M16, another airstrike, then a chopper.  That all happend in about 30 seconds, it was pretty sweet.

Ended with 21 kills, 1 death.  I was thinking that it might be a good idea to blow myself up with a grenade after setting up an airstrike, so it starts the cycle over again, getting another qucik airstrike and hopefully chopper.  Maybe wait until you get the chopper to off yourself??

Here's a little tid-bit I picked up on due to my buddy coming over and playing with me.

Problem was, the sounds from playing both systems at once made it impossible to tell where noise was coming from.  A grenade exploding on his screen might be something I don't even hear across the map...

So... I started playing with my Bose headphones on.  S&D  Immediately I realized how important "dead silence" is.  My package now dumps the deep impact, and uses dead silence.  I cannot explain how different it is playing this way.  I can hear my environment and know without even seeing someone where 'about' they are....

Sometimes I swear I can hear fabric squishing and grenade pins knocking around from 50 feet away!!!
It's amazing!!

It made me from good...  to great.  Have had rounds like   6-0  8-0  11-3, and my fav so far....  16-3.
In S&D.
I had 2 airstrikes in the 4 rounds and that means I basically wiped out the entire opposing team myself.

My new killer package...  (of course including headphones...)

MP5 (silenced) > Stopping Power > Dead Silence   (1 smoke, 1 grenade)  They never hear what hit 'em.

Ohyeah bro, I loves me some dead silence. I've always used it with the silenced M4 & stopping power... but then again, using dead silence with any silent weapon is a smart move. Yes you can indeed hear pins from nades hitting the ground, the fabric/bootsteps of enemies, clips hitting the ground while ppl are reloading... all that stuff.

Ever since the patch my 2 favorite setups are
M40A3 ACOG,frag x3, stopping power, steady aim

and my particular favorite these days...

M14 Red Dot Sight, fragx3, stopping power, steady aim

Headshots GALORE with the M14.... Nastiest assault rifle in the game IMO. No need for a turbo controller to turn into a full auto gun like some jackholes like to do. Pair the M14 with stopping power and it's 2 hits to kill, unless it's a headshot, then it's 1 hit kills all day

I havent tried headphones but I have always had a surround sound set up (Bose speakers with Onkyo reciever) for every game especially in Gears it has helped a lot.... you can trinagulate the source of the sounds and figure out if someone is coming or not.

Dead silence in cage match is vital as well. A few weeks ago I felt like I was the only person using it, now there are a lot more people using it. Dead Silence will really screw your opponent up, they will never know where you are coming from. With your surround setup, you can accurately tell where anyone is and then attack.

The end result will be your opponent quiting or disconnecting....

So I hop into a Mercenary TDM today...

Get into the lobby and it's at Bloc.. cool, no prob. Teams get made and literally EVERYONE on my team is level 5 non-prestige or lower. The whole other team's crackin' up cuz they're all higher level presitge'rs and I get stuck with all the newbs.

Three heliocopters, three airstrike's and four UAV's later my team wins. I go 40kills 11 deaths and 2 assists, rest of the points were divided up among three out of my four partners as the fourth went kill-less for the game

Way to show 'em what prestige is all about Mx!    I get ragged on all the time to "rank up".

I played in a 4 on 4 deathmatch on District a few months back that turned out to be a 1 on 4. The final score was something like 590 to 540. I had 45 of my teams 54 kills. It was fun to kill that many people, but it was even more fun screaming at my fellow teammates for sucking so bad.
