Two of Europe's best teams got together for a home and home when Portugal and The Netherlands battled on the pitch. Game one featured a lot of back and forth action and the Dutch squad went up 1-0 on a first half goal by De Noteboom. Portugal came out looking to level it in the second half but it looked like it was not to be until Hugo Almeida scored a late goal at the 89th minute to make it a 1-1 final.

Game two was more conservative in play with a slight edge to Portugal. Most of the action was in the midfiield as neither team wanted to make a mistake. The trend continued in the second half until Portugal manged another late goal by Almeida on a nice cross from Christiano Ronaldo to secure the 1-0 win for Portugal.

Good games Jay as always and good luck the rest of the season.

epic games today as the powerhouse known as allarndgmr and the young up and comer known as tp jett met up for the first series of games that could be a preview of an future playoff match.

First game turned out to be a defensive battle followed by explosive second half offense.

The Czech hosted the first game and were being willed by their home fans for a victory.

However the "never say die" attitude of Turkey propelled them to a 3-2 victory with a scrappy goal by Nihat in the 94th.

Goal scorers: Altintop, Nihat (2) sorry allarndgmr i lost the paper with the names of your goal scorers.

The second leg had a turkey side desperate to pull of another upset until their hearts were crushed with a late goal leaving the final 1-0 in favor of the czech.

great games allarnd. i'm looking forward to another series

They were two very good games.  My goal scorers were in the first game Baros 45' and Galasek 85'.  In the second game Galasek 49'.

Sweden vs Austria

The Swedes hosted the first of two matches tonight.  They would also get on the board first with a rebound strike by Elmander in the 26'.  Austria would march the ensuing kickoff right down the pitch while the Swedish defenders looked on in awe.  Kuljic leveled the match in the 28', 1-1.

The second half saw Austria controlling most of the possession, and Kuljic would put his Austrian side in front for good in the 80'.

Sweden 1 - 2 Austria

The second match was a midfield battle, with Austria getting most of the chances in the first half.  After mashing a strike off the crossbar, Kuljic would finally find the net on a spectacular feed in the 45'.  The game would end with that result.

Austria 1 - 0 Sweden

Great games Richie.

Italy hosted the first of 2 matches against France on Sunday night.  The Italians jumped on top in the 31st minute on a Gatuso tally from well inside the box.  In the second half Toni put the match away with an 18 yard strike from the top right corner of the box.

@Italy 2 France 0
ITA Gatuso 31'
ITA Toni 74'

On French soil both squads struggled early on as the first half went scoreless.  France had the best chance to go on top early when a shot at a wide open net from 10 yards out sailed over the bar.  Italy found it's stride in the second half when Pirlo connected in the 61st minute.  The Italians extended their advantage 6 minutes later with a Perotta strike off a corner.  DiNitale sent the French fans packing at the 81' mark off another corner and Buffon took home another clean sheet 3 - nil.

Italy 3 @France 0
ITA Pirlo 61'
ITA Perotta 67'
ITA DiNatale 81'

Good games Ryan.

Portugal v Czech Rep.

In game 1 Portugal would apply pressure early and often with Ronaldo down the left right wing.  After a couple failed attempts on crosses Ronaldo would find himself on the end of a cross and in the 36' Portugal would take a 1-0 lead.  In the 56' Baros would even the score with a rebound from his own shot and the score game would end 1-1.

In game 2 Koller would prove useful, not once but twice.  The first goal would come from a long cross from right to left to Baros, but with no angle on the goal he would head it back to the middle to find Koller who finished nicely.  The second goal by Koller was a close no call on an offside and Koller would beat the keeper one v one.  The final score was 2-0.

GG's Marko

Game 1
C Rep.
Baros - 1

Portugal
Ronaldo - 1

Game 2
C Rep.
Koller - 2
