Week 10

Portugal and Spain got together tonight in a matchup of European rivals. In game one Spain got off to a good start when David Villa slipped one past the Portuguese goaltender after taking the ball away from a defender. The lead was short lived however after Deco headed in the equalizer from a nice cross. Hugo Almeida put Portugal ahead 2-1 right before the half time whistle and despite a late push by the Spaniards the game ended 2-1.

Game 2 was a grind it out midfield battle with neither side creating a lot of chances. Ultimately the game ended in a 0-0 draw.

Spain - Villa

Portugal- Deco, Almeida

Italy and Greece comnpleted a home and home earlier Sunday evening.

In the opener Italy took the lead in the 22' on a Toni strike and tried to hold on to no avail when Greece evened the match at 1-1 in the 89th minute.  (sorry did not get the scorer before the menu quit out)

Italy 1 Greece 1
I - Toni
G - ???

In the return match Greece ran off to a 2 - nil lead in the first half with strikes from Gekas and Amanatidas.  Italy fought back for the draw in the second half with goals from Pirlo (59') and Perotta (62')

I - Perotta

I haven't been too pleased with the lack of activity in the league, but at least we're into the final week of the final season.  Get your matches in ASAP so we can get the Final Tourney rolling.
