Great matchup tonight between Portugal and Austria.  The Austrians were hoping to hang with Portugal, with their star Ronaldo at the helm.

The first match was controlled by the Austrians, and they let it fly in the first half.  With goals by Aufhauser in the 20' and Ivanschitz in the 45' they controlled the match.  It would end that way.

Portugal 0 - 2 Austria

The second match was a defensive battle that saw the first half close at 0-0.  The second half was more of the same, as it seemed neither side wanted to control the possession.  But Portugal would come through in the 71' with Maniche heading a corner rebound into an open net in front of three defenders. [:D]

Austria 0 - 1 Portugal

Usually, whoever posts the results will get the goal scorers from both sides in the "match facts" in-game menu.  No worries. [8D]

Croatia and Czech Republic met up last night for 2 good games.  The score to the first game was 2-0 Czech Rep and the second game was 3-1 Czech Rep.  More stats and story to come soon.

The Netherlands and Sweden hooked up for their home and home.

Game 1 a defensive battle for the first half and much of the second.  De Noteboom would score on a rebound for a 1-0 Netherlands lead.  Kislaer would score late for a 2-0 final.

Game 2 Sweden would push the action trying salvage a split.  Goals by Ibrahimovic, Elmander and Ljunberg would help make than happen for the Swedes.

very good matches last night.

France's keeper was sniffing glue prior to the game and thought he was on offense for most of the 90 minutes [&:][:(]. thankfully the defense ([:(]) picked up the slack and we cruised to a 2-2 tie (a non-loss is a win in my book [:(])

some very good defense and some excellent keeper work on Germany's part led to a 1-0 win for the Germans

Game one was very hard to get any offense going with your goalie helping out in the midfield, LMAO that was one of the funniest things i have ever saw. There is no way i would have shot from midfield and been able to sleep at night, well maybe if it was Jay i would have.[:)]

epic games today as the powerhouse known as allarndgmr and the young up and comer known as tp jett met up for the first series of games that could be a preview of an future playoff match.

First game turned out to be a defensive battle followed by explosive second half offense.

The Czech hosted the first game and were being willed by their home fans for a victory.

However the "never say die" attitude of Turkey propelled them to a 3-2 victory with a scrappy goal by Nihat in the 94th.

Goal scorers: Altintop, Nihat (2) sorry allarndgmr i lost the paper with the names of your goal scorers.

The second leg had a turkey side desperate to pull of another upset until their hearts were crushed with a late goal leaving the final 1-0 in favor of the czech.

great games allarnd. i'm looking forward to another series
