Does anyone have this?  If so, is there an option to switch from the sixaxis controls to regular buttons?  I don't see any and I can see myself throwing my controller thru my tv if I have to keep emulating the bowling motion. [:(]

From IGN:

UK, August 22, 2007 - A bowling game in which you swing the pad to throw a ball to knock down skittles you say? Wow, that sounds pretty revolutionary. Well, it did sound revolutionary until Nintendo went and beat Sony to it. Still, some would say there's enough room for another bowling game - Wii haters for starters - and if you're looking for a PlayStation Network-exclusive pin kicker then High Velocity Bowling certainly fits the bill.

Compared to bowling in Wii Sports, High Velocity Bolwing takes a more realistic approach to its visuals - there are no limbless competitors with oversized sunglasses and crazy hair here. But despite this, Sony's PSN bowler isn't any more sophisticated than Nintendo's bowler. In fact it's probably less so, because we notched up three strikes and a spare with our first four balls. Hardly challenging.

The SIXAXIS is used to play every aspect of your shot, first to position your bowler along the lane by tilting the pad. Similarly, to change the angle of your shot simply move the pad around then, when you're happy with the approach, hold down X and draw the pad back to build power, then quickly swing it forward and release the button to let the ball fly. Unfortunately our experience was somewhat hampered by the security cable preventing the SIXAXIS from being nicked by GC thieves, so the best we could muster with a limited swing was a pea roller that tumbled lazily down the lane. Still, it was enough to get a strike. And then another, and another.

There are 10 characters to choose from, some specialising in speed and others skilled at spinning the ball, which is done using the shoulder buttons. However, from what we've seen there's little point because clearing all the skittles with a straight shot is hardly difficult. Of course, there's every chance this will change in the final game but for now High Velocity Bowling is anything but fast and it's certainly not challenging.

I got if from a friend so it was free. [&o]  And HOO, I've never played a wii but I would imagine this is what it would be like. I'm standing here in the middle of my living room going thru the motions as I would in a bowling alley. [:(][:o]

I downloaded this game about 2 weeks ago.  The entire family likes to play it.  Unfortunately, only 4 players can play at once.  There are also characters and other stuff to unlock which is pretty challenging.  My son likes the "biker" who throws the ball sideways at about 20 mph..

MOMOwheeler -> RE: High Velocity Bowling (1/23/2008 10:14:46 AM)

This is a HUGE step forward for Sony imho.  I have been playing the Wii at my sisters house since she got one in December and it is definitely a great family experience.  That expereince should easily transfer over to a PS3 household with a game like this.

I had to wait till midnight last night to finally d/l it and it took about 45 minutes to get, so I didn't get a chance to play it yet...I am looking forward to it though [8D]

BRODY127 -> RE: High Velocity Bowling (1/23/2008 12:13:27 PM)

i have this and i think it's a fun game, the difference between this game and the Wii bowling is you can actually go over the foul line in this game

TDAWG23232 -> RE: High Velocity Bowling (1/23/2008 6:18:05 PM)

Played this for a couple hours now and as someone who used to bowl and with a decent average, this game rocks...hopefully they release a patch to make it online.  A TGV bowling league would be sweeeet.[8D]

WHOOPINONYOU -> RE: High Velocity Bowling (1/23/2008 7:10:44 PM)

how much is the game?  and it's from the PS Store right?  I haven't played PS3 in quite a while and never visited the store.

Sounds like a game my wife would like also... [8D]

TDAWG23232 -> RE: High Velocity Bowling (1/23/2008 7:13:58 PM)

The game is $9.99, then there are two add on characters for .99 each...you should get it, you'd like it.[8D]
