DOWNLOADABLE MAPS ON THE WAY

Santa Monica, CA – February 4, 2008 – Fresh intel from Activision headquarters (Nasdaq: ATVI) reports that new global conflicts are planned in the form of downloadable multiplayer maps for the award-winning Call of Duty® 4: Modern Warfare™. In development for both Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, the upcoming downloadable content will thrust gamers into a hot zone of added combat across a variety of intense multiplayer locales.

“We’ve demonstrated our commitment to delivering the best multiplayer experience in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and that continues with our plans for new downloadable content,” explains Infinity Ward’s Community Manager, Robert Bowling. “We’re excited about the new maps, and the added gameplay variety, and we can’t wait to wrap things up and get online with everyone.”

The worldwide best-selling game in units of 2007, according to The NPD Group, Chart Track and The GFK Group, and winner of more than 40 editors’ choice and game of the year honors, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is rated “M” (Mature) by the ESRB for Intense Violence, Strong Language, Blood and Gore.  The new downloadable content is scheduled for release this spring, and will be available on Xbox LIVE® and PlayStation Network.

New Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare DLC Maps On The Way
I’ve got some big news I know that everyone has been waiting on official confirmation of and I’m excited to let you guys know that we’re currently working on some official new maps for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare that are going to be available as DLC in the future for the Xbox 360 and PS3. Last week I let you know that we were on the look out for the best community-made maps, but this week I can let the news out that we’re working on official IW-made maps of our own as well behind the scenes.
These new maps will be adding even more variety to the online multiplayer of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and I’m excited to gradually share more details regarding the new maps as we progress. So keep your eyes tuned to the blog as I’m going to be sharing sneak peek details and insights on what you can expect as we get further and further along with the DLC.

Status: online 		When i first saw Broadcast i thought these are fakes cause that screnshot is from RB6. Kinda looks like the University of Vegas map to me.Dusk looks like a couple of maps we already play on.I cant wait to play on the Hill map.Probably my favorite part of the campaign.

Status: offline 		I love the fact new maps are coming out.  They look nice.  And I can't wait.

Though it makes me wish there could be 100's of them. So many that people don't/can't learn them.
A battlefield that could be improvised, repositioned randomly...  or something similar.
So people are required to use instincts versus using habitual patterns or hot spots for kills.
The thrill I seek in this game is that "real life" war experience.  S&D delivers.  BIG time.

Just to clarify --

There will be FOUR new maps in the upcoming map pack, not 3. I did that SpikeTV interview at GDC a little while ago, since then we added Killhouse to the pack.

So overall you're getting:

Creek
Broadcast
Chinatown (carentan remake)
Killhouse

Chinatown has a great mix of closequarters through all the buildings and more open street fighting which goes around the entire map. If you played Carentan from previous Call of Duty games you'll know exactly how fun this map can be, and with the new visual overhaul it's even better with a few tweaks here and there.

Have no fear on size as Broadcast and Creek are both huge maps (creek probably will be our largest yet). Creek is wide open huge outdoors map with plenty of houses, cave, farmland, and wide open country side. Whereas Broadcast is huge too but made up mostly of large indoor spaces and alternating routes throughout the station and outside surrounding area. So size will not be a problem in this map pack. 402

Whats that other title again people still play....?  Seems like years ago.

I have some great PS3 news for everyone! We have hammered out the details for the upcoming DLC and will be releasing the new Variety Map Pack on PS3 in North America on Thursday, April 24. In addition, We’re also really excited that the Map Pack passed Sony Europe certification and will be propped on the PlayStation Network on May 1.

To celebrate the release of both map packs we will be hosting a Double XP weekend for North America from 12:01 AM PDT on Friday, April 25 to 11:59 PM PDT on Sunday, April 27. North American players will be able to play the new maps against members of the Infinity Ward team on Friday, April 25 from 5 PM to 8 PM PDT.

We’ll also be hosting another special Double XP and Play With Devs event for our worldwide / European users specifically. For our European fans, we will have a Double XP weekend beginning at 12:01 AM GMT on Friday, May 2 and concluding at 11:59 PM GMT on Sunday, May 4. You will also get a chance to play the new maps against the IW team on Friday, May 2 from 7 PM GMT to 10 PM GMT. That way you guys aren’t left out due to conflicting time zones!
