Somethng that bums me out about this game is the fact you can't buy a Place to lock up your rides....like Vice City.

Unless that happens later on in the game

ER1CKSON -> RE: GTA IV: First Impressions (5/3/2008 6:26:19 PM)

You can park them outside your safe house and they stay there if you save.  You can fit 2 easy, maybe 3 if you squeeze them in.  Andrea is at a point where she has 2 safehouses so that's 4-6 cars. [8D]

Himroyd -> RE: GTA IV: First Impressions (5/4/2008 11:16:46 AM)

Yeah just make sure you park them in the yellow lines and they will stay there.

360 version:

I've never played a GTA game before...and this game has every feeling of a blockbuster hit. My sons have a cheat code to unlock stuff and love the weapons and motorcycle. I'm playing it straight up...no cheating. [&o] So far...my two favorite parts of the game are the dialogue between the cousins and the radio stations. [&:] [:(]  I found a radio station that just plays jazz...and heard a great Charlie Parker tune. I was happy just crusin the city. [8D] The other radio stations are equally impressive. Whoever was the music director and script writer on this game gets a 10+ from me. [sm=1smilie_thumbup4.gif]  That alone is worth the 60 bucks. The action is just icing on a very nice cake. [:)]

------------------TV talk for those looking for a new HDTV -----------

Last night I finally got my 32" Samsung and a kick butt speaker system with a sub-woofer. WOW!!!  [:)]

I'm never going back to 19" and tiny tv speakers again. [:(]  I did a lot of homework before making a purchase...and this may be one of the best 32" HDTV's on the market. I could have gotten a less expensive Samsung with a lower contrast ratio and fewer inputs and outputs...but I needed the analog RCA outs for my speaker system.

The one I purchased last night that has a higher contrast ratio and more inputs and outputs. 32" Samsung Model: LN32A450  ($849.99)

TDAWG23232 -> RE: GTA IV: First Impressions (5/14/2008 10:43:12 AM)

This is hardly my first impression since I'm at roughly 60% completion, but here's my take so far.  First of all, the game itself is great, the graphics, I have no clue because my TV is such a POS...the story line is good, and the controls and camera views are better then previous versions....My question to everybody is this...Does this version just seem waaaay too easy???  I know in previous versions I was killed and busted a lot, failed missions all the time and had to re try them several times before finishing them.  This version, I have died 2 or 3 times, and one of those was because I fell off a bridge onto concrete while I was screwing around, meaning I have only been killed by enemies or cops twice.  The missions I have failed are because someone got away, but even then, I've only failed about 16-18 times in completeing 70 plus missions.....escaping from the police is so easy. it's almost not fun....in previous versions I was always checking my back when I would jack a car or kill someone to make sure I had time to escape....in this version I could care less...I'll walk right up to a cop and shoot em with other cop cars around and then just jack a car and be out of harms way in a matter of seconds.

Overall, I love the game, but I was expecting something a little tougher to be honest

agreed

Himroyd -> RE: GTA IV: First Impressions (5/14/2008 11:03:21 AM)

Im only about 36% complete but so far yeah,[sm=sign_stupids_1.gif].
The cops don't use the spike strips or come after you with as much force as before.
Do they still come with tanks? I havn't seen any yet, but I havn't had 6 stars yet either.

GREGGFF -> RE: GTA IV: First Impressions (5/14/2008 11:25:02 AM)

Good Question.
Though I agree it seems easier than previuos versions, I've only yet seen 3 stars triggered during missions(maybe 4,not exactly sure, obvious reasons[:(]).

What star levels are you encountering triggered by missions later in the game?

Are you actually out running  6 stars?
The few times I,ve umm... accidently set of 6 stars, thier was just no escape for me, the radar lights up like a x-mas tree and I dont think the end of the blue in the radar ever came within my sights.

Roughdawg4 -> RE: GTA IV: First Impressions (5/14/2008 1:13:05 PM)

yeah all you need to do is cross over in an area you arent supposed to be yet and you will 6 stars instantly.

Me and my fiance tried to see who could last the longest.  I lasted about 7 minutes and she lasted 37 minutes.  She was so good at avoiding the police, copters, and swat vehicles, I thought she should change jobs. [:(][:(]

MxThrust -> RE: GTA IV: First Impressions (5/14/2008 1:37:53 PM)

The game (so far) does seem a bit easier than previous versions...
My theory on this is they want people to be done with the "game" and working on the jumps and side games by the time Rockstar releases some DLC for the PS3. I know the 360 version is gonna have more d/l'able missions that will be 360 exclusive. I can only assume in the desire to make all that money Rockstar will release some more missions and stuff exclusive to PS3 as well.

Roughdawg4 -> RE: GTA IV: First Impressions (5/14/2008 1:53:06 PM)

I thought xbox 360 got exclusive right to the downloadable content.  They paid a $50 million advance for it.

MxThrust -> RE: GTA IV: First Impressions (5/14/2008 2:12:25 PM)

Pretty sure Rockstar would've made sure they can develop other DLC for PS3 users...
The 10 hours of D/L'able missions that are for 360 are what's exclusive and not just a generic exclusivity on DLC, yes? I don't know for sure, but I think it would've taken more than $50m for Rockstar to sign over rights to all DLC. I could be wrong though...[:D]

Roughdawg4 -> RE: GTA IV: First Impressions (5/14/2008 2:35:04 PM)

Next-Gen contacted Wedbush Morgan Securities analyst Michael Pachter, who further explained the deal. "What Microsoft did was pay a $50 million advance," he said, much in the same way a big-name author receives a payment in advance of his or her next book.

In other words, Microsoft is confident that Take-Two's portion of the revenue generated by GTA IV content downloads will surpass the $50 million advance paid.

"Microsoft basically said that it's happy to pay [Take-Two] in advance $50 million in revenue that [Take-Two] is going to receive from GTA IV downloads," he said.

Microsoft takes about a 30 percent cut from Xbox Live Marketplace content sales, according to Pachter.

Taking that 70/30 split (publisher/Microsoft) and the $50 million advance into account, Microsoft is apparently confident that GTA IV download revenues over Xbox Live will be at least $70 million.

If revenues don't meet that figure, Take-Two will have to return some of the advance, according to Pachter. But he said that there's no reason to believe Take-Two would actually miss that revenue target.

He also stated, "By giving this advance, Microsoft did extract from Take-Two the promise to make [GTA IV content] exclusive. But there will not be any downloadable content for PS3, at least for some time. My guess is at least for a year."

Microsoft ended up paying 2 $25 million advances for 2 episodes to download.  $50 million is all it took.

MxThrust -> RE: GTA IV: First Impressions (5/14/2008 2:41:42 PM)

Interesting...[8D]
I hadn't read anything about that before. I still won't get an XBox[:(][:(] It does say that there won't be any d/l for PS3 for some time; I doubt it'll be a year. More like until Microsoft reaches that $70m target to get back what they paid in advance. I really don't think that'll take a year to do.

I thought the ending sucked.

Which one ??? Or do you mean both of them ???

I must say both versions left me feeling the same way .... just for different reason's. [;)] [;)] [;)]

ER1CKSON -> RE: GTA IV: First Impressions (5/14/2008 3:29:02 PM)

I did Revenge, might do the other one later.  It wasn't the entire ending that sucked for me.  I was expecting a little more after the last thing that was said to Niko.  Figured there would be some more dialogue or something, I knew it was over, but it was just like ... I dunno...the way the conversation ended I was like, that's it? [:D][:(]

FM6CT -> RE: GTA IV: First Impressions (5/14/2008 3:43:08 PM)

Do the other one too .... it is worth the effort to get the $$  if for no other  reason ... also it does change the story a bit [&o]

ER1CKSON -> RE: GTA IV: First Impressions (5/14/2008 3:45:15 PM)

How would I get the money on the save with Revenge tho? [:D] I don't think that would work considering I whacked a couple guys that are pretty pertinent for the Deal mission. [:(]

You get 250 g's whichever one you do.

FM6CT -> RE: GTA IV: First Impressions (5/14/2008 3:47:52 PM)

I made a save file before I did Revenge ..... only way you could do it I guess .... [8D]
