ORIGINAL: SlickRick Man, I'm seeing all these awesome designs at IGN. Steam - where are you when a brother needs some advice?!?!? Wowsa, look all the people typing in ye ole NASCAR string Sorry rick, first time on today. I am trying to get into the video thing so that is chewing up some time. First off, alot of nice folk are doing paintjobs for people on the xbox.com forums. Thats where I got my 2nd Buckeye car. I am planning on dowin up a Steamboat Resorts car so it looks like one of our shuttles. I think the boss will get a kick out of it. So, Dan gave some good advice. If you are using paint.net, the forums are fairly helpful too. Don't try and do a killer car first. Keep it simple and mess around with it. The "layers" tab is where you will find Import from file so you can download any graphics you saved to a file on your harddrive. You can load as many of these as you want and quickly select one, then in your tool bar, use the color picker, pick your color (I will use this to match any paint from the logo art), then go to any tool (like paintbrush), adjust your size and you can color your car to match that color you selected so it is cohesive with your logo art, etc. The rectangle and free form shapes I tend to use alot and you can adjust these to a really fine point up in the "brush width" area. I am pretty type A so I zoom in big time to color in things almost pixel by pixel to sharpen up lines. The thin line/"arc" tool (3rd from bottom on right side of tool bar) is really good to build your outlines. You can then color in the details with the above fine brush and zooming in to the detail you want. Sorry if I am not explaining it well. I am self teaching myself this too. It will make you agro at first but is fun. Now I am messing with DVD maker. God Help ME!!!
