We are trying to play a LAN game with 4 ps3's and no internet. We have a router but when we tried setting up a match (all of the online maps were available) no other Ps3's/players showed up to join match. What network settings do we have to adjust? And do we need the internet? We tried both wired and wireless and still nothing.Can we use a normal internet cable or do we need a crossover cable? We are sick of the split-screen and screen watching! We would greatly appreciate it if someone could help. Back to top

lan is just wireless between the ps3's no router needed i think they all should just go 2 lan instead of online and see eachother[8D]

I think it's different when you have more than 2 trying hook up by LAN.
I've been searching, but only finding other people posting questions on how to set up a LAN party with more than 2 PS3's [:(]

I'm not sure, but, wouldn't you need Internet to set up a LAN match?  LAN = Local Area Network.  So, unless they have internet access I don't see how it would be possible.  You should just be able to hook up the 4 PS3's to a router (or a switch if the router doesn't have enough ports) and play a LAN that way.  I've never tried it but I can't imagine how it's possible without some form of Internet. [:D]

Did some digging and I guess it's not mandatory to have Internet. [sm=1smilie_shrug2.gif]  Everything I read was just hooking up 4 network cables to the router, 4 tv's, 4 ps3's, 4 copies of the game and run with it.  I can't find anything specificially for COD4 tho. [;)]

Yeah that's what everything I've seen says too. I think the main difference is maybe this guy was trying to play ranked games. Seems that you can only play private matches(makes sense) when you're playing LAN games. Someone beat me to this answer over there; hope it works for them[8D]

Ahhh...he's going to the multiplayer online instead of the LAN multiplayer. [sm=1smilie_doh2.gif] Hopefully that's it cause that's an easy fix. [:(][8D]
