Status: online 		This is the Final Tournament for the FIFA 08 TGVPL Season II.  The final tournament will be a home and away for each matchup, and aggregate score will decide who advances.  If the aggregate is tied after regulation of the second match, then extra time and penalty kicks will decide the winner.  Of course the final match will be one game played in its entirety, winner takes all.

Good luck to all participants.

Status: online 		Salzburg and America would get after it in the Final Tourney tonight.  The Red Bulls were on a mission to prove that the earlier draws this season with the Mexican team were not their best effort.

Salzburg would host game 1.  America was frustrated early on, with minimal possession and very few chances.  Zickler would be the man of the match, as the Red Bulls controlled the entire match.

Salzburg 3 - 0 America

Zickler (48', 60', 74')

The second match would be in Azteca Stadium, and America was looking to fight their way back into this battle.  The Red Bulls would have none of that.  The first half was all Salzburg, with Vonlanthen netting in the 32' and Leitgeb netting in the 40'.

The second half was a midfield battle, and America could not get on the scoring side against a determined Red Bull squad.

America 0 - 2 Salzburg

Salzburg advances with a 5-0 aggregate.

Great games house.  Thanks for playing this season homie.

Status: offline 		SP and NE hooked up for their first round match tonight.

Game 1
A very good game in which SP jumped out to an early 1-0 lead.  NE would tie it late in the first half and SP would take the lead early in the second.  NE woudl againtie the score and both teams had oppurtunities to win with neither team converting.  Game ends 2-2 and SP sneaks away with a big tie in NE and the advantage going in to game 2.

NE jumps out very early scoring in the 3rd minute.  The score remains that way until shortly after the half when SP ties the score and is hoping to hold on for a 1-1 tie.  NE scores midway through to take the 2-1 lead and SP misses the few shots they get at the tie.

Status: offline 		ok Blackburn and Portsmouth are going to be banging heads in this pretty even match up,  and the 1st game was a all out war!  with mccarthy coming out the 06*  then Blackburns defender johnson turned his back on a winger and bounced it off his head at 15* for a [OG] , then at 90* utaka thought they sealed it, when on the next kick-off  mccarthy took it all by himself and tied it at 92*

Status: online 		Zaragoza vs Salzburg

These two teams split the regular season matchups, 3-1 in both games.  It was set to be a tight battle.  In game one, some mistakes by the Salzburg defense would lead to goals for the Spanish team, the first coming in the 31' by Milito.  Oliviera would net a goal in the 44' to put Zaragoza up 2-0 at half.  Salzburg would battle the enitre second half with multiple missed opportunities.  Finally, with time winding down, the Red Bulls would net a goal by Vonlanthen in the 90' to give Salzburg some hope going home.

Zaragoza 2 - 1 Salzburg

The second game saw Zaragoza net a goal on the road to take the early advantage in the 12' by Milito.  Vonlanthen would get the Red Bull squad back to even in the 26'.  The Spanish team would control the second half, and Garcia would net in the 53' for Zaragoza to help his team advance to the Final with a 4-2 aggregate.

Salzburg 1 - 2 Zaragoza

Status: offline 		New England and Blackburn met up to decide who would meet Zaragoza in the Final.

The first game was a tight defensive battle and the first goal would not come until late in the 2nd half putting NE up 1-0.  That would be all the scoring and game 1 would go to NE.

The second game would start the same way the first game went with both teams playing tight defense.  Just before the half time whistle in stoppage time NE would get on the scoreboard first and lead 1-0 at half.  NE would get a quick 2nd goal in the 48' and go up 2-0.  The third was shortly behind in the 60' and NE up 3-0 had a commanding hold on the game and the semifinal.  The final whistle would sound and NE would be on to the final.
