Sorry Jay, that sucks.  Is it the same as last year where you can connect but see that "grass" view or are you just having connection issues?

Don't know what kind of issues you're having Jay but i saw this in the XBOX forums an it seems to be a good tip.  just takin a stab here:

We all know the issues with 08, it seems at this point some of them have carried over, hopefully not for the same reasons, regardless I will tell you all how to get the community success rate on launches team or match Up UP UP!

Hosts:
As a host you should clear your system cache after 2 or 3 failed launches.

Clear system cache:
To perform the function, access 'memory' in the system blade, and then highlight the hard drive. Now press: Y, X, X, LB, RB, X, X. The following message should appear: "Do you want to perform maintenance on your Xbox 360 storage devices?"

If you initiate maintenance, the hard drive's cache will be cleared, including all software updates.

This sounds like a lot, but once you get the hang of it, its a 15 second job. Then you just relaunch and download whatever minuscule  update there is and you are good to go.  I guarantee you will see far more successful launches doing this.  Even red pinged guests usually have no issues when I host a game with a clear cache, if the guests follow the instructions below...you are looking at a 90-95% success rate.

As a guest:

When you load into a game and fails for whatever reason (last year was a "lost connection" screen because someone locked up), you have to crash to your dashboard, not reboot just crash to your dashboard. (Xbox button, Y and choose "yes"). Then just restart TW09.

I have seen it a hundred times last year, I/somebody would get connection lost and crash to the LOBBY, not my xbox dashboard and join a new game, well then I would lock up (2nd tiger woods loading guy).  This causes 3 more people to get the "connection lost" then they join 3 more games and the whole cycle of sucky disconnects continues.

I follow these rules with friends from all over with all kind of pings and we rarely dropped a match on TW08.  The rules are simple and take but 30 seconds max, which is a heck of a lot better then wasting 30-45 minutes just to get a team game.

1. Hosts: Clear you cache after 2 -4 unsuccessful launches.
2.Guests: Crash to XBOX dashboard after EVERY failed launch
3 Everyone: Enjoy game launch after game launch with friends and foes alike!

TW09, today I had 2 for 2 fail, both 3 hole minigames, I hosted one and got connection lost and joined another and it got stuck in and endless swinging tiger woods loading guy.  Hope this helps...i should have spread these tips all over last year and it would have worked out better.

Nope just this game.  On a positive note I turned it off for a while walked away as I was ready to throw the disc out the front door.  Came back and got 18 holes and a 9 holer in with Ryan.

And Hop I am getting the "connection lost"

My problem is I have no other problems with any games I play.  Gears, COD, GTA, FIFA, NHL, Table Tennis

I'll try it just because I really really like this years version when it works for me

Throw out that all your other games work fine from the equation. This is Tiger we are talking about. Have you tried putting your box in a DMZ? Some small little detail is costing you Tiger enjoyment.

No I haven't.  I haven't ever needed to.  I can't understand why I would strictly for Tiger.  That is why I haven't to be honest.

Remember the PS2 days?.... only Tiger required the DMZ.... I think this might work for you.

That is the problem with Tiger, and being able to connect successfully with random people in matches. Tiger is one of the few games that needs everyone to be on the same page when it comes to your network set up. I hear many people say that "all there other games work fine, so why should I have to makes changes for Tiger"? The answer is, if you want to play Tiger online, you have to go the extra mile. Other game developers write their code so that the most screwed up network connections can play online together. Tiger is not this way. Just because player A doesn't have to DMZ their box doesn't mean player B is so lucky.

Set up your DMZ and if it still doesn't work, don't even bother cause it could take buying a new router or changing ISPs just play a game that should work out of the box to begin with.

Yeah - you could use that code in almost any Konami game. Contra, Gradius, etc.
