    Windows 8

Anyone using the preview version to check it out? I've read that if you own a legit copy of Windows (XP, Vista, 7) from the past 10 years, you can get the upgrade to Win 8 for $40. I'm pretty sure I have a legit copy cd key laying around somewhere.

Just curious if anyone has installed the preview and what their thoughts are on it.

Yep...I guess ppl have been using it for a few months and you can upgrade right from the preview to the full retail version. My guess is it will only be plugging in the official CD Key to unlock it when the preview expires. I downloaded it today and might install tonight if I get some time.

I have installed it on a tablet here at work. I didn't use it much though because i couldn't get the wireless network adapter to work. So I couldn't connect to any network resources.
I like the metro interface for the tablet devices. I'm not a fan of it on a PC.

I'm having an issue creating a usb bootable stick for Windows 8 on my Macbook. Getting errors. I know installing Windows 7 would be easy, but I don't have a legit version of Windows 7. I may have to install Win 7 (non-legit) just to upgrade to Win 8 preview version. I'm not going to be using Windows very much at all anyway....just to play PC games most likely. But I'd rather have the most current version of Windows because it will be supported fully.

I have not heard many good things about it. I work in the IT department at our job (more of a business analyst than an IT nerd) none of our IT guys like it

    what kind of errors?
I know i had to do some crazy stuff to get it to install. Basically if you try to boot from the usb stick it always sees that as disk 0. So when you go to create a partition to install to, it will try to create it on the usb stick and say it's not writable.
So what i had to do was burn the windows8 iso to a dvd and boot from that.
Of course i was dealing with a tablet that only had 1 usb slot and the keyboard isn't available during boot. so i had to connect a usb hub with the dvd drive and a keyboard attached to that in order to get it to boot to the dvd. You know, it prompts to 'press any key' to boot to the dvd. Once i did that, it went through with no problem.

I installed the preview copy today and I have to agree...I'm not loving it so far. I may toy around with it a bit more, but there's a good chance I'll stay with Win 7.
