Thanks for the offer but I'll pass. The only thing I really do is mess around on the Internet anyway.

I have been using Windows 8 for about a month or so now on my laptop. It's just a standard Dell laptop, not a touch screen.
My feeling on Windows 8 on a non-touch device is...Meh. It's kind of Windows 7 with a Start menu that takes up the whole screen. I find myself using the 'legacy' desktop 98% of the time.

Well today i started using Windows 8 on the new Surface Pro. This thing kicks ass! It's a whole different experience with the touch screen.
I like a lot of the concepts and I can see where they're heading. I think it still needs work and Windows 9 will probably be a much better experience.
But I really like that i can sign in to this device with my domain account (for work) but link that account with my personal Microsoft account and all my settings follow me no matter what device i'm on.
With Skydrive, I have my files everywhere I go. On my windows 8 phone, my Surface RT, my laptop with windows 8 or my Surface Pro. Basically anything with an internet connection.
So I like where they're heading with windows 8, especially on this Surface Pro. I think it still needs work, but it's pretty cool.
I'm thinking about making the Surface Pro our new laptop standard. The biggest complaint we get from users is their laptop is too big/heavy. This definitely solves that problem, and it's about half the price of the laptops we currently buy.

You hit the nail on the head. It's a worthless OS without a touch screen. Also, to take advantage of many main features, you can't be a one device person. Oh, and it is a huge pain in the arse for developers, which is why a lot of games coming out aren't on Windows 8. Like the new Sim City. Very frustrating. I just switched back to 7 for all of these reasons.

Same here...I tried Windows 8 early on via a beta version and did not like the interface on a laptop/desktop. Maybe on a tablet I would have been more impressed. It last about 2 days and I reloaded Windows 7. I only boot into Windows for playing games anyway....W7 is better suited for me at this time.

Did i mention performance? It's noticeably faster than Windows7. The surface pro goes from 'off' to login screen in 6 seconds.

Throw a ssd in a windows 7 machine and it will login just as fast. As said before here 8 is fine for a tablet or phone just not for a real computer.
I'm fairly sure if they took porn off the internet, there'd only be one website left, and it'd be called "Bring back the porn!"

Been using win 8 since day one and haven't had an issue really. Is it clunky every once and a while yea and having two monitors makes the corner screen hover menu stuff weird sometimes. Haven't had any real issues compatibility wise but I also don't play a lot of games outside of steam or blizzard games.
